Hopefully on 01/2009. Certainly not before then. Wish him all the best and a safe journey.

May your God(s) watch over him.

And tell him thank you for his service!

There is no good answer to your question.

GottaDiesel 08-31-2006 10:20 PM

I saw a young kid wearing a shirt today that read, "Draft Beer - Not Soliders".

Don't know what makes me think of it for your thread, but anyway... I'll pray for him tonight.

As to your question, "When will enough be enough?" -- I wish I had an answer. We've got ourselves into a mighty tough one with all this. The people that support Bush are simply not willing to admit a mistake, and sadly, young men and women are paying the price for that.

But anyway... seriously, prayer does work. I know it sounds crazy to some folks... but, hey, what can I say.

:) Pete

Can't you put f***ing politics aside for a moment and just wish the man and his son godspeed.

NKowi, our prayers are with your son, as they are with every American man and woman in harm's way.

I have daughters and a son and I know how I'd feel if any of them was in your son's situation.

May you soon be able to hold him and he hold you too.

Thank him for me, please.

peragro 08-31-2006 10:37 PM

Your son and you have the gratitude of myself and my family.

May he come back soon and unharmed.

Of course, our prayers are with him and all those serving here and overseas.

t walgamuth 08-31-2006 10:40 PM

God speed him home safely.

"... When will enough be enough???"

Easy Bud, he asked the question and I gave a him a reasonable answer based on our Commander in Chiefs projection Don't be so pissy. And I did/do sincerely wish all goes well.

First, I am not your bud.

Second, you still chose to make a political statement at a time when Nkowi probably needs moral support, more than anything else. (I do apologize NKowi if I got it wrong).

Last, only you and GD made a political statement out of it. And even GD, to his credit, tempered it.

GottaDiesel 08-31-2006 11:15 PM

How about we try and keep *this* one in our hearts?

My comment was not meant to be political, just realistic. I apologize for any unintentional misunderstanding it may have created.

Thank your son and his mother for their sacrifice and service to our country. Thank you for that and the fortitude necesary to allow how him to stand and deliver with dignity.

Enough would be tomorrow if the enemy would put down it's weapons and allow free people to choose the course of their lives.

We are all indebted to you and those like you.

May God be with him and your entire family through this difficult time.

kamil 09-01-2006 10:55 AM

I'm not trying to be an ass but your son signed up for the military. I know it's sad to see your son go but he ultimately had a choice whether he would go or not. He does get the little perks as well....free education, medical care etc. None of that stuff comes free.

Anyway, best wishes to him but he'll be fine though. I wish I had enough balls to join the military....

And even though you haven't the balls you think you have some right to tell a father how he should feel about his son going into a war zone. You could use some humility, buster.

His son will be fine...that's all that counts. It doesn't matter what a hearless a-hole like me says...it's not like my opinion matters or will change anything. No need to get upset.

That's obvious to anyone with half a brain.

The point is, that even if he were getting a million dollars and a million virgins while alive, his parents will still be worried about him.

Of course he had a choice, that doesn't make a parent sleep any better at night.:behead: to Kamil.

May God bless your son as he serves our Country and I pray that he'll return safe, soon and unharmed to you.

He and all our soldiers who go in harm's way are great heroes.

I would be grateful if you would offer him my thanks and gratitude for his service.

soypwrd 09-03-2006 06:38 AM

Unlike most here, I don`t believe there is a god who will ensure your son`s safe return, but I do wish him and those with him the best. Please thank him for me for his service to our once great nation. My hat is off to him and his companions.

Kuan 09-03-2006 07:12 AM

All the best to you and your son. Tell him we appreciate his service. Here's to a safe return!

MedMech 09-03-2006 08:45 AM

I wish your son well, and hope his absence goes by quickly for you and his mom.

I assume he's off to Iraq or Afghanistan. Do you consider these worthwhile causes for your son to risk his life for ??

Does it matter what the soldier or parent of a soldier thinks is a worthwhile cause? I mean, you signed up as a soldier and said you'd do your duty and now duty calls. What has this got to do with anything? He signed up to do a job and he is doing the job where ever it might lead. It is not his place to question a legal order. 2 things I can say.

At the very least, he didn't duck it under some stupid thing like saying he is a CO after having receieved all the benifits or running off to another country. That in itself says a lot about this young man and all of it good.

Secondly, unpleasant as it is, he obeyed a legal order. Unlike a lot of muslim soldiers we have in the army who were called to Afghanistan, he didn't feel that he had to consult someone about whether he should go to war or not. He obeyed a legal order. Another thing that speaks volumes about him.

Every thought that maybe he enjoyed that lifestyle when he signed up? I mean, do you sign up with the armed forces hoping to get the bennies and never have to pay back.

Zeus 09-05-2006 12:10 PM

Best wishes

NKowi - I can't even imagine the worry you and yours must feel and/or how you deal with it. I hope he returns safely.

John Holmes III 09-05-2006 12:30 PM

My heartfelt thanks for the extreme sacrifice your son and your family are both making. May he and the others return safe and unharmed. God bless.

I agree with this completely. Support (or lack of support) for the mission are just abstractions. They don't change the danger faced by his son. The reality is that you have a human being concerned about his son's well-being. Period. If you can't offer a little support for him on a human level perhaps it would be best to just remain silent.

You have some serious issues. Show some respect, like the rest of us did when your friend was killed in the line of duty.

It sure does look like you are trying to be an ass!!

I hate this war and all the politics that surround it, but that does not change the lump in my throat thinking about another serviceman going off to fight. I hope your son has a very safe journey and that the worst thing that happens to him is that he gets a sunburn.

In this world of no responsibility your son has taken the bull by the horns, and I commend him for it. Let your family know that the people here at shop forum have your son and his safety in our thoughts.
