My favorite example.........which happens on a daily basis.........are those who can easily see that the traffic light is red.........about 1000' up the road........but will pass me and accelerate to get to the line of cars waiting at the light........and then mash the brakes.

Could someone please enlighten me to this behavior..........if they have any possible explanation for the behavior other than my explanation??

I do have a possible explanation which may give them the benefit of the doubt.........."the time spent sitting at the traffic light doesn't count in the overall trip time".

That must be the explanation because people are smarter than I give them credit for.

as any road racing fan will tell you, my friend,

that move is called passing under braking.

it is commonly executed at the end of a long straightaway.

although i am often tempted to do it on the road, i seldom do.

when one is in a hurry anybody driving slower than the desired speed is automatically a moron.

when one is in a more relaxed mood the one speeding by looking irritated is of course the moron!

depending on the day and situation i may be either way.

I don't have any objection to them passing me. Hell, go 80 if you want. I don't think it's appropriate in a 40 mph zone, but, hey, that's just me.

What I fail to understand is the desire to go faster when the red traffic signal is clearly visible and one for which you must stop.

Now, if you plan to blow the light, then their behavior makes a bit more sense, but, so far, none of them have done it.

Maybe if you drove a gas powered vehicle you'd know.

I think that Arizona is a boarder state, and most of the Anglo residents and teachers already speak spanish. This is not the case in NC.

My GF who is a teacher in one of these districts, and who has two kids in one of the schools had to attend a parents night at her kid's school last week. Every single word of the meeting was translated into Spanish. She left in disgust about half way thru.
