When my 300E tells me his front left tire is hurting, he means his front tire on the US driver side. But then I don't expect those of you with antisocial vehicles to understand.
This is why I just refer to driver side and passenger side. Eliminates confusion.

The left side is the opposite of the off side. (But then I don't know the bow from the pointy end of a boat.....)

You can extend the discussion to which direction is a left turn and which is the left lane. Though I've seen enough drivers push the [US] turn signal stalk up before heading left
