I did feel angry at the site for sterotyping me, but it also made me want to do better.

back in my M.E.N. days I had a sewer system that consisted of a 2-stage digester and a plastic-lined gravel bed for the effluent, post-digestion. The first two stages were anaerobic mostly. taking my cue from a ruminant, I had a pre-digester stage that was mostly aerobic. It captured all of the effluent so it was constantly disturbed on the surface. The second stage sucked the effluent from bottom of the first stage and deposited into the second stage at the top. the field line picked-up the bottom of the 2nd tank and distributed it down the gravel field. Since it was lined it didn't allow percolation into the native soil the way a septic tank does (unless there was a very heavy rain...). Emergent aquatic plants (pickerel weed, sedges, etc) had their roots in the gravel, from which they would suck the water while transpiring. The roots and gravel are also substrate for aerobic decomposition and chelation of heavy metals. Now I dump *****-all into the sewer and have no idea where it goes, other than it supposedly meets EPA standards and costs me $60/mo. B |

"IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.7 PLANETS."
Or, we could wipe out 79% of the Earth's population, and the survivors could live like me. Damn greenies...they need to start thinking outside the box. |
