This has been discussed over many a beer...

... but with all the great minds here, we might actually answer it once and for all (sorry I don't know how to set up a poll, or I would've);

Send John Rambo and Josie Wales into the bush with nothing. They're told to find the other and kill him.

Who comes out alive?

What kinds of weapons would they have? What kind of bush?

If yer talkin' pistols, ya' can't beat Josey Wales.

"I don't believe no five pistoleros could take down Josey Wales."

EDIT: OK, now I see there's no weapons. Somehow I missed that. Your post was too long, NKowi!

Without weapons I've got to go with Rambo. Josey Wales is all about figuring out how to get the best edge with his pistols.

Rambo had a conscience which he suppressed in order to accomplish his mission. Wales was an intelligent homocidal psychopath who supressed his mania. I'm betting on the smart psycho.

Having seen both men in person, I am betting on the 6'5" cowboy over the
5'6" vagrant. And like Bot alludes: Rambo may end up offering his hand in friendship and Wales would lean in to shake it and bite him in the jugular

I don't know, Josey Wales has iron in his words, as Ten Bears says. He wouldn't break his word.

No. He'd just break Rambo... I'm with Bot on this one too.

If it is Rambo vs. Wales, my money is on Rambo. He's got more training in hand-to-hand combat and is clearly capable of turning off the emotions.

Now if we're talking Sly vs. Clint Eastwood, I'll take Clint and I don't care how the guy is today. He still looks tough as nails.

Josie would win every time, as a military man I laugh at the amateur tactics of Rambo.

Come on now, guys. Josey Wales may be a much better character, but I can't think of a single instance in the movie or either book (they are excellent, the author was Forrest Carter) where Josey figures out how to take someone out without shooting them. OK, there was Cap'n Redlegs at the end, but that guy doesn't exist in the books and was already wounded anyway. And Josey wouldn't feel the same kind of rage with Rambo, who is not responsible for killing his wife and child.

I've never seen Rambo, but he seems like more of a hand-to-hand sort. John Doe, I was not taking their real-life heights into account.

And as for the bush, if Josey's unfamiliar with it, he's got no advantage there.

Rambo, knows how to make use of his surroundings, a warrior that can kill with his hands, a dozen different ways. When has Josey ever killed with his hands without his guns?

First of all guys, it's 'Josey' and not 'Josie'...one's a cowboy the other fronts an all-girl band called the Pussycats.

Josey over Rambo, hands down.

Rambo relies on heavy weaponry and wound closure by gunpowder cauterization, and is fuelled by bitter resentment over his country's betrayal of him.

Josey is driven by pure revenge and has steel in his veins. He needs only pistols and cunning.

Plus, there's something not quite natural about Josey, or the Man With No Name, or the Pale Rider. Something of the devil in them. Hell-sent or Hell-promised, I'd take a squadron of Rambos before one Josey.

Ah...just saw the no weapons thing.

Josey would still win.

They'd meet, they'd stare each other down. They'd trade one-liners at each other and ultimately Rambo, realizing the impossible crutch that his accent gives to his delivery of said one-liners, would immediately acquiesce in bitter defeat and jump off the nearest cliff, First Blood style.

I'm pretty sure they could get 2 hours out of it... 'Rambo survives the fall into a river and battles rapids on his way to escape... dries out some gun powder to cauterise his wounds, and plots revenge against Wales for dissing him.'
They could determine the winner (alternate ending) by text voteing at each showing.
