Tenth U.S. soldier killed in Iraq on Tuesday

Another U.S. soldier was killed in a bomb attack in Iraq on Tuesday, bringing the U.S. military death toll in the day to ten, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.

"A Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldier was killed at approximately 1:10 p.m. Oct. 17 when the vehicle he was riding in was struck by an improvised-explosive device north of Baghdad," the military said in a statement.

The U.S. military announced earlier the death of nine U.S. troops in separate incidents on Tuesday, including three soldiers in northeast of Baghdad.

"Three Task Force Lightning Soldiers assigned to 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, were killed and one was wounded Oct. 17," the military said in a statement.

The soldiers were killed as a result of "enemy action" while conducting operations in Diyala Province, the statement added.

A fourth soldier was killed at around 9:30 a.m. (0630 GMT) Tuesday when "terrorists" attacked his patrol with small arms fire in northern Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

In another statement, a marine assigned to Regimental Combat Team 7 died of wounds sustained in clashes in the volatile Anbar province in western Iraq.

Earlier, the U.S. military said four American soldiers were killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in west of the capital.

"The soldiers assigned to Multi-National Division-Baghdad were killed at about 6:50 a.m. (0350 GMT) on Oct. 17 in west of Baghdad, " the military said in a separate statement.

The latest deaths brought the U.S. military death toll to 66 so far in October, which makes it one of the deadliest month for U.S. troops in Iraq.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, said the U.S. military.

Over 2,770 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S. -led invasion in March 2003, according to media tally.

I dont see any contradiction between the positions. They are all variations on excessive testosterone associated with the male power quest. Control women and keep in position as alpha males. It's Nietzsche's pro-life theory--the power of domination.

Too much testosterone causes one to be against murder, for life and supportive of the family unit while at the same time realizing that not everyone can get together and sing koombaya if only folks would spend enough time negotiating?

Where do you get that one? How is the GOP against murder any more than anyone else?

Right. George Bush is for life. That's a good one.

Supportive of their concept of the family unit, but not so supportive of families in general, IMHO.

Of course nobody in any position of authority has made that claim, but it's interesting that you bring it up. W's so-called "Freedom Agenda" is based on democracy breaking out across the Middle East after we force a democratic government down the throats of the Iraqi people. If that's not koombaya, I don't know what is.

No. You didn't use to many words. You just used the wrong ones.

What's with the sentence without spaces between the words?
