The Government car would run on ethanol to keep the farmers and the “green” groups happy. But, it would have a crankcase that holds 30 gallons of oil which would need changing every week to keep the oil companies happy.

The instruments and dash board controls would be in seven languages including brail.

The driver seat would be in the center of the car. We don’t want to imply that the operator opinions are left or right.

The car will not run on government holidays.

Attached to the rear bumper will be a large cardboard box to provide a homeless person a place to sleep.

You would be promised an S class, but get a Yugo delivered.

A 67 Cadillac sporting a restrictor plated allison aircraft engine with a luxury sales tax imposed if you had AM and FM.

In California, you'd have a choice of a honda hybrid or a rickshaw.

And when you reach customer service to complain, the recording says that its the same car you ordered but there were unforeseen production changes. It turns out over 70% of the people who bought this car are having the same experience. You can place a new order but now the waiting list is 2 years.

Well since 97% of governments drive S class you could argue:

That this is a government car!

But if the US government were to make one, it would:
Suck fuel like a Hummer H2, yet put out no power and be the size of a Civic. But it would run on E85 and make the farmers money.
Be of poor construction, kind of like a Yugo. But cost what a good S class costs.
Oh also they would lose $100k on every one because the union workers would ream them good and they would cave in to get votes.

I had one of these once.

They are no-frills "government-issue" for sure. They also didn't quite live up to their reputation for durability.

Depends on who’s it power

Republican:
Huge, Safe, Burns fuel like no other, but you can sleep in it, and carry 7 children all in child safety seats. Did I mention it is impractical for 99% of people?

Democrats:
Its small, fuel efficient, top speed to 44 MHP, so its gotta be safe right? It can only hold one person, but that’s ok because everyone is taking the literail anyway. A model of impracticality.

Moral of this story... it is not practical for the goverment to build cars.
