I was just thinking that I rarely every see a BMW that is more than 5 years old. There are plenty of old Mercedes around town here in Toronto. Every day you see at least one from the 50s, 60s, 70s, plenty from the 80s and 90s. This isn't a slam on BMW or anything, just curious. They have to go somewhere right? I can't imagine that many end up as scrap.

Then there could be the S A answer - In garages, if you don't drive them they don't break down, but my neighbor says that about his SL also.

I see lots of old BMW's around here (KC,MO). By old I mean early 70's on up, so nothing really old, but well used cars still being driven. They don't seem to have the staying power the old MB's do though. I definitely see more older MB's, and tons of other 300D's.
