Window lift stopped working

I tried to lower my rear window on my 1967 200D today for the first time in about 10 years and when it lowered, the window dropped. I tried to crank it up, but it would spin without the window even moving. I took the panel of the door off, and found a piece of metal hanging loose. It has some gears at the end. I cannot figure out where it was hooked into. I would spin the crank and put my hand behind the door and couldn't feel anything moving.

Does any one have a picture or instructions as to what is wrong. It is difficult to figure out due to not being able to see. The right rear door also has the same problem, and it has a piece of wood holding up the window.
