Miami Vice?

The Miami Vice soundtrack is awesome!!!!

(New movie one...)

Anybody like the movie?

If not the plot, story and/or acting....

How about that F430 with the blue flames creeping out the exhaust?

I wonder if that car actually does that under hard acceleration, just like that... looks like 4 mini jet engines!

I love cars..

Only time you see real flames is when you back off hard acceleration, the unburned fuel goes into the exhaust. Only time you see on acceleration is afterburners on jets, or some hollywood effect.......

They upgraded to a real Testarossa during the series.

I thought it was OK. I mainly went to see Gong Li. The action could have been better, and did we really need the shower scene?

No we didnt need the shower scene. We dont need cars, beer, internet access, central air, but I have all these things because I want them. Just like that shower scene some wanted it!

Saw the movie last weekend: very dark, gloomy atmosphere.
Sonny and Rico look total strangers. Don't bother, even the Ferrari with the blue flames doesn't make good, see the old series with Don Johnson again instead: it's available on DVD these days.

Tubbs drove a '64 Eldorado convertible, not the '62 deVille stated in the link or the '64 deVille depicted (probably a fill-in car for the Eldo). The '64 Eldorado didn't use fender skirts, unlike the deVille.

This film lacks any humour and irony: it's way too serious. No memorable scenes either, like the destruction of the Daytona with the Stinger SAM... What would have been nice would have been the appearance of the original couple, like in Starsky and Hutch, although that movie is one big mockery. Sadly, just more examples of bad re-runs....

I've been on location in Miami Beach during the shooting of the pilot movie in early '84. They shot at the Miami Beach Marina where Crockett's boat was and on Ocean Drive, South Beach. Nobody paid attention.

Later as the show chaught fire, they relocated to shooting in studios only. It's clearly visible throughout the series.

I haven't seen the remake, but I doubt it is able to catch the moment in time when the heat was on in Miami.
Particularly, since it came to the screen after Brian De Palma's 'Scarface' w/ Al Pacino had unleashed a wave of violence among "drugsters" in Miami.

Just saw the movie and I'd have to echo Vronsky's comments about it. Dark, gritty, and a lot of serious faces yet it leaves you empty. No real drama, just a lot of dramatic looks, IMO. Plus - I hate the way many big budget films are being filmed on crappy mini-DV or whatever digicam they use, just to make it look 'real' or gritty. This one was no exception. Looked like a Gr. 8 drama class art project in parts.
