When is enough, enough?
I have a friend of mine thats been "renting" one of my rooms since February 2005. I've known him for years, since he was 14 and we have played in bands together over the years.
I am starting to get irratated with his monetary situation however. To date I have received less than 1 1/2 months rent from him. I've been understanding before cause he would change jobs every few months or so, so no real time to build up a good paying job, so he would never have a lot of money to pay his rent. He had said before that he had been giving money to his mom and sister to help them out too and he has a high car insurance bill. I am fine with that.
What irratates me me is that he would blow his money on stupid things instead of paying me. for example $500 spent on 2 R/C helicopters and 1 R/C styrofoam plane (all of which are now broken, btw). I've helped him countless times on fixing his car, and that I dont mind either. Some of you may remember the thread around Nov 2005 when he wrecked his 300CE and I went to the junkyard, got all the needed parts and put it back together for him. Instead of painting the new hood and fender blue to match the car, he wasted $1000 on getting the whole car painted black! Needless to say I saved his ass there because he still owed $3400 on the car at that point. He only had liability on it.
Moving on, I finally talked him into selling it and getting something he can afford (i.e. a civic), but he would not listen and wanted to get another Mercedes, so I found him a cheap 300E for $700 and sold his coupe on here for him. I even put my good spare transmission in it for him (still havent seen money for that either).
anyways now he has another job of about a month now and they "arent paying anyone" because of accounting problems. whatever. I think I've finally had enough and am done cutting him slack.
He's now looking to get a loan to buy a early 90's 300E...
What do you all think? When would you have thrown in the towel?
