Yep - Nothing like a quickie around the "neighborhood" to settle the soul.

A quickie tends to get me all hot and bothered. A cigarette later settles me down.

That's good, Bot. I had forgotten about John Galt. Great character. I love Rand's books.

We have 2 Bell 206B-III's.
Sort of the same. But not quite.
Also, 2 Bell 407s.
Still - Sort of the same. But not quite.

Why do you ask?

(I listed all of our toys for Buckwheat on another post. Did you not see it?)

I am not a pilot but have spent many hours buzzing around various parts of the world in the little buggers. I claim a little fame because I was on one of the first OH-58D test flights with all of the new at time night vision electronics.

That’s the one problem I’ve heard they have with the newer (407 based) -58s. They pack all kinds of heavy electronic goodies in (and on) them without much in the way of power and rotor upgrades.

They do a good job. But when you loose power, you’re in trouble.

We’re pretty close to Bell here. I know many of the techs/sales/staff there. Quite often, they call me up because they have an Army -58 pilot/crew that wants to compare it to the 407. Every time I’ve let them pilot one of our 407s, they have the same response. Something like: “Damn. I wish our ships handled like this.”

BTW - Have you seen the autorotation video of the -58? Not sure why this guy pulled (the first time) at 50’+, but either way - It’s a heavy ship for that rotor system to try to stop. Splat....

You ever read her semi-autobiographical, "We the Living"? probably her best attempt at literature: a great narrative and interesting character development. I started reading her books in high school and I believe I have read all of her novels and most of her non-fiction. Also several (very severe) criticisms of objectivism. I agree with her politics but not so much her personal ethics -- I realize she would claim they are inseparable which to me, is why we disagree. But that is one woman I'd love to have explored a bottle of scotch with.

Somewhere in the marshes of Gueydon, lurks a hip-boot clad barrister, shotgun at the ready, lab alert, duck call held firmly in his cold, chattering teeth.

Not pining for wasted hours arguing inconsequentials, with fractious dwarves.
