Yeah, and just think, "Reality TV" had not even been introduced while the King was alive. If he were still alive, he'd probably shoot himself, rather than the TV. TV sucks for the most part, except for things like the History Discovery, Biography, PBS, and other educational channels.

Guess I'll answer the question. Natural selection at work. Not a bad thing too considering all but one of them were from a part of the world unfriendly to us.

This reminds me of the scene in the movie In Cold Blood, where the two killers are about to be hanged. One of them is obsessed with the though that his bowels will empty once his neck snaps at the end of the rope. He is worried about crapping in his pants. It's funny the things that are important to some people. . . .

Well, they have laxatives to empty the bowels if he were that concerned. In any case, maybe he was not wanting to have people ask "What is that smell".

Too bad the hanger doesn't ask the hangees if they would like the snapping or non-snapping option. Think about it. When they ask for what they would like for their final meal they could also add "When being hung, will that be the neck snap or no neck snap platform you would like?"

Natural selection, of course. A textbook example of Social Darwinism.

So the surviving offspring are adapted against killing themselves after they see a hanging on TV?

Either they survive it and learn from it or they repeat it.

Survival of the fittest. Those who are not equipped with enough survival instinct and/or overall intelligence to prevent them from doing something as dumb as hanging themselves do not survive, thus improving the gene pool for the future.

What I'm saying is the immunity against seeing a hanging and doing it themselves should be passed on to their offspring right?

Yep. Those who hang themselves to death pass on that knowledge to their offspring who will then never kill themselves via hanging.
