a little problem with hotmail

Hey Guys/Gals:

Just a little problem here: my hotmail account no longer deletes emails. After deleting an email, it re-appears once I refresh the page again. This has been going on for a couple weeks and my email box is getting pretty big.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Don't know how hotmail works (I recommend you switch to gmail), but most services have a checkbox next to the email (when looking at the inbox), so you check off the emails you want to delete, then click the delete button.

If you don't click any checkboxes, but click the delete button I imagine nothing would happen.

Yeah, I'm thinking of switching. I've had hotmail for about 7 years, so I know how to delete messsages. Something changed a few weeks ago but I don't know what.

They probably updated their system.

sfloriII 01-29-2007 01:47 PM

Huh. I just checked my trash can and it only has 17 items in it. It's emptied daily by hotmail.

Are you trying to delete from the view of your inbox (showing all messages) or while looking at a certain message?

What browser are you using?

I've been using internet explorer since my Mozilla has also been acting up.

I just downloaded the latest version of Windows and the problem with hotmail seems to have been resolved.

Hopefully!!!

Thanks. :)

I'm sure it was something to do with your version of Internet Explorer becoming out-of-date. It's funny that not even Microsoft's own products can keep up with the updates forced onto their users so frequently.

Probably has to do with your cookies.

sfloriII 01-29-2007 06:07 PM

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the help! Everything is now OK.

I installed the newest version of Internet Explorer, which cleared up the hotmail account. Then I reset my cookies settings which allows me to log in without having to type my password each time.

Thanks again! :)

Doesn't that make your hotmail account available to anybody who logs on from your computer? It's convenient, but (it seems to me) dangerous if you don't want everybody to read your mail.

I have resisted Internet Explorer upgrades. I'm tired of being a tester for Microsoft's crappy products. Whatever version I have now works. As long as it works I ain't monkeying around with it.

I think it's crazy to be that paranoid about your own computer, I mean how many people go use your computer when you're not around? Trust issues?

It's ironic that you seem concerned about security in the previous statement, yet you say something like this. Running an old version of Internet Explorer is the #1 cause of 99% of Windows-related spyware/spam/adware/virus problems.. They're not sending out critical updates just for the heck of it.

Go download Firefox right now. It'll import all your favorites, history, cookies and saved form information (including passwords) from Internet Explorer. You will barely notice you switched browsers, except for a nice secure feeling :D

Thanks for pointing out all my inconsistencies, Justin. I'll look into that.

Awwwh come on, don't be like that. Just trying to get you to use Firefox or at least update your Internet Explorer. My ways of motivation need work...
