Location guide for Burger King...
I wish they had a location guide for Burger King. It and Wendy's are the only two I ever eat. The problem is I travel 48 states, Canada, and Mexico. I get the crave so seriously sometimes, that I'll go to wreckless lengths to get B.K. I can always stand passing up Wendy's but not B.K.
I can never seem to find a B.K. when I need one. I wish they'd make a B.K. location guide complete with parking capacity, seating capacity, and hours open. directions from exit ramps would be nice, too. Also, they should have atleast some 24hr locations like McDonalds(yuck) does. I'm in a 77 foot tractor trailer, and sometimes have a little trouble getting an accessable location. I've blocked lanes, and driveways for it in the past though. They say "Have it your way" I say it should be 24 hrs and on every corner w/a location guide the size of a phone book, or larger. This is ridiculous tonight. I'm near Mobile, Alabama, and all I can find is a damn subway tonight....GRRRR!! :fork_off: |
Get a Garmin.....
|
You actually eat that crap.... I rarely eat the stuff.. maybe once in a 4 month period
|
If you're ever in Mattoon, IL, be sure to stop at The Burger King. Much better than the chain.

There's this one truck stop down near Matoon that used to have really good frog legs.

they do .get on the web page for bk and there is a box at the top type in locations and it will ask your address.you can get up to a 40 mile radius.at least its a start!

I didn't know they did that on the web site. I'll have to check it out.:book: |
Get a program like Blackberry 411 for your cell phone. If you punch BK it will show you the closest BK using the GPS on your cell phone.
I'm not a fan of fast food but I do like BK, but nothing is a substitute for Colonel Sanders. thats MOHO. |
i too find when fast food is the only option that i often seek out bk.
the burgers are grilled and the fixin's are like a big salad. i order them with mustard instead of mayo and they are super fresh and low fat. when a small snack is in order i order a whopper junior. and occasionally i will order a kids meal. i am more or less continually on a diet and i get very, very sick of salads. tom w |
Wow Nick, I bet you could tell some interesting stories about life on the road!
Law enforcement encounters, wrecks, sights, people met, funny stories, weather, it must be like being the last American cowboy. What was that saying? "If you got it, a truck brought it" |

I've seen the worst accidents, met the strangest people, and been to some really weird places. Living on the road is not always fun though. Lotta vagrants, scheisters, and con-artists out here. Everything from truck stop hookers, to truck stop mechanics. There's a lot of bad element. I run 48 states, Canada, as well as Mexico. If I'm not hauling a load, I'm either going to, or coming from a meeting with a new, or current client. I just scored a really huge account, out of El-Paso, Texas last week, for weekly runs of auto parts from there to Detroit. My trucks, do well, and are all over the country right now. I'm in the vicinity of Mobile, Alabama right now. i've got a load to deliver in the morning which I picked up the morning before yesterday, in Salt Lake City, Utah. 2050 miles away. This will be a light week however. By the time saturday night comes. I'll only have run 4000 miles. I'm not sure exactly where to yet, but most likely, back the way I came, or even further. Looking at a load now w/two stops on it. If I get it I'm running from here, to Spokane,Wa. and from there to Seattle,Wa. Anyways This is why I want my guide book for B.K. I have dozens of others, for truck washes, fuel stops, hotels, truck stops. Only thing missing is fast food stops, Particularly B.K. I don't care much about the rest of them. Will do the blackberry thing and try that. I'm tired of this happening. I haven't eaten a thing since last night in Denver,Colorado at a truck stop. Guess I'll have to have some nasty Domino's delivered to the truck, or something. |

As far as fast burgers go, In -n- Out takes the cake. Around here anyway (mcd's, bk, carls jr.). Usually if I eat fast food it's something like Subway, they put a ton of veggies in there.
Love burgers though. |
AAHH YES, "In and Out Burger" mmmmm, Cheeseburger..DOH!

They are far better than any of the rest including my fav. B.K. The problem is that the only place in the whole country I've ever seen them is in your area though. I get out there and always head for the first one I see. As far as Subway goes, They're only ok, but I prefer burgers over all most of the time. A good burger, and fries, with a huge Pepsi,Coke, or pink Lemonade will set me free for a while. A burger often makes a great midnight snack also. Wish ,In and Out, was as common as B.K., and Wendy's etc. |
Put an ice chest in your truck and carry your own food. Fast food joints sell bags of ice too.
Check out books on tape also. Food grows, it doesn't come from a factory. Do not eat industrial products. Eat everything as close to the way it grew as possible. Avoid anything made with refined flour, hydrogenated fats, or high fructose corn syrup. If your waist line is larger than 38 inches, lose weight and build muscle mass. Do a lot of push-ups, lunges and stretching. I have a directory of the location of all of the walmarts and same's clubs. I use it to avoid places I know I won't like. |
We should all write that Pimp My Truck Show and see if we can get Nick's rig pimped. You seen that show Nick?
Do you sleep in a sleeper cab or in hotels mostly? When I was in the floor covering biz, we had 3 weekly deliveries to our warehouse. I had my own guys unload the trucks and got to know the truckers real well. One guy had (log) a layover in our town one time and asked us if we could install some berber carpet in his cab and sleeper. Don't see why not......the word spread and we put all sorts of crazy carpets in the trucks and didn't charge them. But they would haul stuff for us like once I shipped a dirtbike to Dalton, GA, ect.... and they would bring us hams from VA. It was a cool arrangement. When I got out of the biz and went back to school, one of the guys brought me a roll of carpet and some rugs from my old store while he was on a delivery to somewhere else--brought it right to my house! |

Say Nick, you ever run into our ex Governor Jim McGreevy at any truck stops on the New Jersey Turnpike? He says in his tell all memoirs he used to cruise them looking for some gay hookups?? :D :D :D    He woulda been the goofy looking one hanging ouside the Mens room door! |
When I lived in SC in the late 80s early 90s a legislator from around the Clemson area got busted for picking up gay prostitutes at rest stops. He still maintains a law practice in Charleston.:o

Well, all of you have been great. This tuned out to be worth while thread. I'll now be armed with a Garmin 680, a host of web sites, and links, and a list of locations for B.K. and some others. I wasn't expecting this sort of response to this thread. Thought maybe an answer or two would be all I'd get, and a lot of criticism was also expected. Turns out I was way wrong. I didn't think what I do would interest any of you guys in the least. I was wrong about that part also. A good friend of mine wrote a book, called "On the road with photo Joe" I think. It's basically a picture book with captions and a few small paragraphs. I was entertaining the idea of doing one of my own. He didn't make a lot of money off of it. It is published though. Here are some pics of my co driver, and I and the truck. There's even a speedo pic. The speedo stops at 90 so I don't know exactly what I was doing. I know she'll max out in the area of 112/115 maybe because I got a ticket for something like that last year going up a small hill in Iowa, on I-80 near Wolcott,Ia.

Sug, some people don't like steak.:dizzy2:
I have been to LA a few times and have not experienced this this In and Out phenomenon that that doofus made popular before the roze bowl:D ;) But down heeeya, WhataBurger is pretty good fast food. Really about the only one I can eat. |
It's comforting to know that you can aim your camera and take a pic of your speedo at 85+ mph ;)
You'll be happy with the Garmin. I've got one myself (a different model) but it sounds like with the type of hauling you do, it may help logistically also by giving you shortest route, fastest route, etc. And tell that mouse he's doing the wrong end. Unless that's what he was aiming for. :D |

I passed by a Whataburger in Dallas on the freeway. I've eaten there once, and don't understand the phenomon. Whataburger doesn't come close to matching the qualilty of In-n-Out. Not a bad burger, but they serve taquitos. The last place I'm gonna order taquitos is at a hamburger joint. From Wikipedia: In-N-Out Burger is a privately owned and operated fast food restaurant chain in the Western United States. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Irvine, California, In-N-Out Burger has since expanded to Arizona and Nevada, and has announced plans to build in southern Utah, though no timetable has yet been offered. The restaurant chain has developed a loyal customer base[2][3][4] by maintaining a simple menu of high-quality hamburgers and french fries made to order with fresh ingredients. It is one of the few fast-food chains in the United States to pay its employees significantly more than federal and state mandated minimum wages. [5] The In-N-Out model is in stark contrast to its traditional rival, McDonald's (which began at about the same time in nearby San Bernardino). This is reflected in In-N-Out advertising, which focuses on the food, compared to McDonalds' ads which promote the "experience." Other major competitors include Carl's Jr., Burger King, Dairy Queen and A&W, but none have inspired the customer loyalty of In-N-Out.[11] All locations are company-owned. The privately owned corporation does not currently plan to franchise or to take the company public. Due to relatively few locations (compared to other fast food chains), a business model where the food is made to order (rather than precooked then reheated), and the high quality -- and popularity -- of the food, the drive-through and in-store lines can be long. A wait 15 minutes or longer is sometimes common to receive one's order. However, the wait time is often due to the length of the line more than the preparation time for the burgers. |

I want to try this In-n-Out Burger place... Seems like it is some high quality fast food(ha...)
They have like 5 things on the menu and Mcdonalds has.. damn... If I rember correctly from when I worked there... around 40 things or more.. not counting breakfast.. They really are a good place and if they have such a strong loyalty they must be doing somehting right.. I want an In-N-Out Burger in my area... :o They get paid 9.50 an hour.. damn.. I worked for 6.15 at mcdonalds and had to hold back the urge to add the "special sauce" to the food daily because of my crappy pay.. I get paid 7.45 now to just bag grocerys.. I will switch again to in n out lol |
Fatburger rocks! :)

In-N-Out rocks.
They're here in Phx AZ, and we have GTGs of Euro cars (usually BMW/VW, I've represented Benz in the W126) at the Chandler location every other Thursday, in the huge parking lot they share with Lowes... |
When I show up at a cruise or car show with any of my 123s' most of the people just walk right on by it, and look at the American cars. Perfect cars though. I wouldn't show up with anything less. They're simply just not interested. Their loss, if they had any idea about these cars at all, it would be a dif. story all together. I've got a lot of friends, who frequent these things. I show up with my Yenko Nova and they're all over it. The same guys have complimented the Mercedes. I think they do it just to be friendly though, and couldn't care less about them...

Because it's a Mercedes, they won't really know exactly what to think. With the odd-ball sound, I'm sure it must make they'll be really confused. |
I always wondered what an MB V8 would sound like with a real free flowing exhaust. A buddy of mine and me disconnected the downpipe to the exhaust on my 300D and the noise got a good bit louder and we got a lot of turbo whine as well. I drove it around like that for at least 8 months and had my fun. Then we disconnected the exhaust on his '77 Trans Am (oldsmobile 403 engine) and by god that thing sounded mean. Before it just sounded like his straight six Nova with the tiniest bit of rumble... real industrial truck like.
I didn't rev it above 2500 RPM or so because it was so loud. Also there are no seatbelts, doors, sound proofing (work in progress). Those cars sure are fast without all that weight though. Each door weighs 220lbs! The fenders, doors, interior, all but one seat were removed and I bet that car was down to the 2800 lb range... pretty fun with all the torque. |
you saying a mb door weighs 220 #?
did you weigh it? i have carried a 123 door in the last month so i know it cannot weigh that much. tom w |
77 Trans-am Doors.

Incidentally I feel he's mistaken on the weight, but still atleast 125 lbs each w/glass in them. |

Sounds like it's worked for you. The new vistas would be interesting I imagine. I wouldn't turn my nose up at Subway however. A little lower fat than BK might be a good idea now and then. I'm big on the McDonald's bacon, egg, and cheese bisucit for breakfast when I'm on the highway. Their coffee's not bad either. |
