Stupid college kids

CLEMSON, South Carolina (AP) -- More than a dozen Clemson University students apologized at an emotional campus meeting for a gang-themed party many criticized as racist after photos emerged showing a white person wearing blackface, school officials said. The university organized the meeting, allowing 15 partygoers to stand up one by one and express remorse in front of about 200 people. "Some people really recognized the courage that it took," said Gail DiSabatino, vice president for student affairs. There was discussion, tears, "and eventually there was hugging," she said. University president Jim Barker and the NAACP announced investigations into the party, which was held during Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, after photos emerged online earlier this week. The pictures featured some white students drinking malt liquor and at least one wearing blackface. "They didn't know that they were being racist. It's really sad," said Ranniece McDonald, a junior who is black. McDonald said Wednesday's meeting was productive and the apologies seemed sincere, "for the most part." The school also has said it was investigating whether students were harassed or whether there was underage drinking at the party. I'm not sure what's sadder, the fact that the stupid party happened in the first place, or the fact that Ranniece McDonald appears to have bought the story that they didn't know they were being racist. I can imagine the brainstorming session of the people attending the party after they were snagged. "Yeah, ...we'll tell 'em we didnt know it was racist...yeah, That's the ticket!"

About 50 lawyers I know throw a Pimps and Hos ball every halloween, complete with fur coats, large hats, bling, and black face. At least six of the organizers are black and probably 20 or so black lawyers and staff attend every year for the past 8 years they have had the party.
Don't want to get made fun of? Don't wear the dumbass gold teef and pants down to your asscrack, hats with still on them tags on them, or drink 40 oz beers standing on the street corner. Last two years, the party has raised about $10K for Katrina victims.

Just more "College Political Correctness" crap going on.
Do something stupid/ditzy near a college campus/dorm/frat house - take pictures or record the video/audio and get it near the Internet... Get some "flake" "never-heard-of-before" organization all rattled up... Scream "Racist!!!" loud enough that MAYBE either Jesse Jackson (Sr.) or Al Sharpton might hear... Have a big "Quum-By-Yah" (SP???) party where everyone 'fesses-up and turns their life around and become hair-ball, card-carring, fuzzy-wuzzy wusses for the rest of their miserable lives... Most of those idiots (All right...ALL of those idiots!) wouldn't know the working end of a shovel if it hit them in the @55! And we have to watch/hear/listen to how they screwed up and repented and we should be just a little bit smarter than them to avoid the same? I know kids who survived sticking forks in wall-sockets  and they don't make the news.These idiots  do need a shovel applied to their @55es and their heads.And no news coverage of it either. Morons. That's my thought and I'm sticking to it!

The black community should look above and beyond this and not let it become a huge deal. Most blacks have risen above being 'victims' of racism. Being a victim returns you to weakness.

Gotta love our PC nation... It's stupid I tell you... Black people and other minorities can make fun of the Whites and can't be touched.. I'm offened everytime I hear(a minority) someone call me a Honky or a cracker .. Can I say something racially degrading back.. nope because I will get my ass sued by the dead johnny cochran and Rev Sharpton will be protesting out in front of my house

In college there was an annual beauty pageant entitled "The Miss Black OSU Pageant". No big deal. I was even asked (and I accepted) to play guitar for some special music for the event. Also, isn't there (or didn't there used to be) a Miss Black America pageant?
You try having a Miss White OSU or Miss White America pageant and there's gonna be heck to pay. What's racist and what isn't??? These college kids were poking fun at stereotypes. No different than "That 70's Show" or "Napoleon Dynamite" poking fun at the disco era or the nerd-types of that era. (Love the Pimps and Ho's party BTW) Can't we just all get along and enjoy and appreciate our differences?
