Got four Mexicans working on a P.M. service on one of my Freighliners as we speak....Let's see if they change the filters w/the oil. The oil has been done, but supposed to do an "Ultimate P.M. " service which is all filters except for the air filter. Supposed to be oil, and top off the rest, tire air pressure, and lube everything. Let's see if the flat tire is still a flat tire when I leave. This is almost $500.00 worth of work, at a T/A ruck stop.

I bet its been proposed but I wonder if anyone would mind illegals if they had college degrees and junk. I can tell you that everyone at work is finally fed up with the gardeners using the blowers, they have a bag on the lawnmower but they blow the sand in the parking lot all over and blast everyones car. I finally said something to the boss. One guy mows while 3 other guys chase a leaf or two all over the property:confused:

i have always thought the leaf blowers to be about the wierdest idea ever.
blow things around! pick them up makes sense...not blowing them from here to there and just leaving them for the wind to blow later. tom w |

I have a feeling that most people in our land would disgust their great-grandfather could they magically work along side him in the prime of both individuals. I mean, good lord, we have people in America who, in a crude attempt to mimic tennis playing, would rather fling a video control device into their plasma TV than actually play tennis. |
my son says it is a good work out.
but i am not sure if he ever has played real tennis. tom w |

He, however, runs cross-country and play ssoccer, so I guess I can give him a pass. |

I only use mine when I wish to punish my neighbor for some transgression. |
so do you hit him over the head or just blow it in his face?

mario tennis is my favorite game. I can't play in real life though. Turns into baseball real fast.

I dunno, I like video games somewhat, but I read that track and field coaches and little league coaches say the quality of new recruits is going down, in general.
One of my fantasy inventions (it's been done before) is to build a bicycle powered generator that produces enough electricity to power a computer or vidoe game setup. Then make it so the kid can only play his games if he's pedaling his little behind off. At my health club here (24 Hour Fitness, many branches and I can go to all of them), they once had an exercise bike and also stairmaster machine (about 4 of each, now gone) at one location only, made by the same company, and they had video games that were integrated with your pedaling vigor. The bike machine had a sci-fi version of Aztec soccer, you could choose your level of fitness, and you had to pedal hard to stay ahead of your virtual opponent. I'm sure the pedaling energy didn't produce electricity, the whole thing consumed a fair amount no doubt, but sure seems like one could be set up that would be self-powering. I should add that I got a significantly better workout on the video game machines than the other ones. Oh well, the machines are more boring than an actual bike ride, jazz 'em up a bit and you get more motivation. |

Oh well, cute picture but that device is not going to generate elctricity, rather it will consume it. There's nothing for him to push against to make the treadmill go on its own. A stairmaster setup could generate electricity as could a stationary bike, of course.
I go nuts over stuff like this. I get an idea for an invention that sure seems to have merit but I lack the $$Hundreds of thousands of dollars required to develop it. The cash is available for good ideas but you usually need a prototype. To the workshop!! |
