In case you missed it, Snickers placed the following ad during Super bowl Sunday.

Due to protests from gay and lesbian groups, who claimed that the ad is homophobic, the ad ws pulled off the air.

What's your take on this?

Homophobic?

Funny?

I'm glad it was pulled.

One of the most unappealing ads ever aired. Makes me want to never eat a Snickers again.

"Ghey Alf" would be better.

It was briefly funny but not that appealing. Homophobic? Not so much.

Just about the best ad was Carlos Mencia (can't keep those Latinos down

) in the english as a second language class.

Poor K-Fed can't buy a break. He made some money with that lame ad but word is it was a poor investment by his sponsor, name of whom I can't recall, the 'life comes at you quick' people. General opinion on it I gather, is that it made people uncomfortable or even scared them.

If their point was to make you remember that it was a Snickers ad, they were completely successful. Most of the time if you remember the ad, you forget the sponsor. (Who was the sponsor of the K-Fed ad?)

Didn't make me want to run out and try a Snickers, but I think they were trying to be remembered.

They're now getting more publicity by announcing they're pulling it. Ka-ching.

There is no contradiction there. The Snickers people are free to run their lame ad. And the public is free to have a negative reaction to it.

The ad is just not very funny. IMO, the type of humor they attempted to use only works if there is some kernal of truth in it - think of Jeff Foxworthy's excellent "You might be a redneck" routine. The Snickers ad wasn't funny, it was just stupid and revolting. Ripping out chest hair to prove you're not gay? What's funny about that?

Briefly funny - Homophobic never entered my mind until this thread. What if the car the two mechanics are working on was a 300D? How would the evolution of this thread have changed?

i thought the ad was kindof weird and not all that appealing. the snickers in the mouth looked a little too much like a turd. ugh!

i did remember it was a snickers ad though.

and never dawned on me it might offend homosexuals til i read in the paper they were pulling it.
