GPS Tech. Question

I have a Garmin 330 gps and would like to know if it can be converted to a 340. Garmin told me that it is not a software fix. Are there Co's that can do this for less then the cost of a new 340?

I have looked into upgrading my Garmin nuvi 350 to a 360 and couldn't find anything. My guess is the only differences are model year.

At on etime almost all GPS' used the same IC's and even circuit boards. They'd repackage it with their own I/O and exterior. Kind of like electronic watches mostly sharing the same guts. I don't know if that's still the case.

For example, I'm pricing upgrading our sub-meter backpack units and all the company is going to do is shift the logic and timing stuff into upgraded package, which includes Blue Tooth and an additional I/O port. Chips are still the same after 7 years.

The difference between the 330 & the 340 is that the 340 will tell you what street to make a rt. turn on. The 330 only tells you to turn in 300ft.

I'm guessing you have already checked the Garmin website for the latest software/firmware. I downloaded the latest version for mine when I purchased it.
