Was there a whip involved in that little transaction, Mistress?

Not a chance in hell....

I’ll fly open cockpit all day long. Love going inverted with an open cockpit aircraft. I love flying helicopters without the doors on them. I love turning them up on edge and looking straight down at the ground. Nothing holding me in either but the harness system. Back when we could - I loved to fly low level off the rim of the Grand Canyon. What a rush. The ground just dropping out from right under you.

But there is not a chance in hell you will ever get me out on that thing. I hate heights with a passion. In an aircraft, I live for them. From a structure, either a building or a cliff, not a chance. I freak. I can’t even go up in our cherry-picker to change the hangar lights without getting all nervous. I hate heights.

You folks can have this thing. I’ll stay way back and take pictures.

I hate getting up on a ladder, but I love flying.

You'd appreciate this...a couple of Saturdays ago my son were working at the local CAF hangar when the only currently flying DC-2 came in for a brief, and unscheduled, stopover.

What a gorgeous plane. What a wonderful cockpit.

The owner, a guy by the name of Clay Lacy, has fully restored the old DC-2 to what it looked liked the day it join TWA's fleet.

That was a rare and unexpected treat.

I've actually experienced that after a long night of too much drinking!

when i was a kid i used to climb to the top of the tallest tree around. up into the smallest branches possible.

when in college one summer i worked at a local factory which shut down for a week for cleaining and refurbishing. they sent me up into the roof trusses with an air hose to clean dust off the web members.

no problem, as long as i have something secure to hold onto.

tall ladders though give me the creeps! nothing to grab if they start sliding sideways or the bottom kicks away from the building.

True funny story about a man, a ladder and a roof. He went up onto the roof to make some repairs and the ladder slid down to the ground. He spent a few hours on the roof shouting to the neighbors until someone came and rescued him. sorry for the hijack.

I used to do that. There wasn't anything I wouldn't climb. I've turned into a real chicken these days, though. Of course I didn't have a mortgage to pay back then . . .

Here's a more recent article on this phenomenon or abomination, depending upon your opinion of such things.

http://archrecord.construction.com/news/daily/archives/070412skywalk.asp

If I was standing there, I'd be tempted to walk out on it, I guess. Unless WVO was around and offered me a ride in his helicopter.
