E55's have gotten cheap!

I was bored yesterday and since I need to buy a car later this year I was searching autotrader.com. I noticed that if I search E55's with a price limit of $20k I get 22 hits.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?num_records=25&search_type=both&distance=0&address=06460&style_flag=1&make=MB&model=E55&make2=&start_year=1981&end_year=2008&min_price=&max_price=20000&transmission=&engine=&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=&color=&keywords_display=&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=0&certified=&advanced=&default_sort=priceDESC&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=217229951&dealer_id=57193809&car_year=2001&num_records=25&model=E55&make2=&start_year=1981&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&fuel=&body_code=0&search_type=both&distance=0&make=MB&color=&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=yearDESC&address=06460&advanced=&end_year=2008&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=773

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=216922465&dealer_id=1031842&car_year=1999&num_records=25&model=E55&make2=&start_year=1981&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&fuel=&body_code=0&search_type=both&distance=0&make=MB&color=&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=yearDESC&address=06460&advanced=&end_year=2008&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=731

Now being 21 and never having owned a car with balls this is of great interest to me. But then I have to ask, why are they so cheap? Whats wrong? I wonder if these are all the beat E55's at the bottom of the market. Just for ****s and giggles I should call our insurance agent so he can laugh at me, then crush my dreams.

regardless, it is still not the latest and greatest. And that is why they are 20k.

I'd love to own of of those land rockets. I'm giving-up my current daily driver to my kid next year. An E55 would plug that hole in my heart quite nicely.

Fun car. I had mine upto 150mph with 3 people.

Issues with body rust however and the perch spring deal. Otherwise, a pretty straight forward car.

My buddy has had a W210 for years in Turbo diesel form, so through him I am pretty familer and comfortable with the W210. I know what to expect, I know what to look for, and I know how to fix them when they break.

Rust seems to be the biggest issue, his 1998 still has zero, well except for the spring perch's. Those were done a few years ago. What attracts me to the E55 is its still a W210 at heart but with some spice added, I'm sick of driving 150hp cars.

The downside are the speeding tickets.

Yeah its hard to imagin being sad to see your currant driver go, when you have a nice shinney E55 sitting in the driveway. If you can swing it spring for the blown version for even more fun.

You've worked hard all your life and saved for your retirement. You deserve it.

I would suggest, however, that you test drive an E430 before you pull the trigger. The amount of power these E430's have will blow your mind, even compared to your E320.

What he said. The E430 Sport is fun to drive. But, I say that about all my rides.

My girlfriend had a E430. I drove it one day on a trip to an out of town football game. Wonderfully refined, fast quiet. But my 6.9 beats it hands down on the fun factor. I would not have traded cars with her.

Yeah, it surprised me too.

If I remember correctly, the E430 had a 0-60 mph of 6.0 - 6.2 seconds, depending on the magazine that did the testing, which is just about what a 500E did.

Hat, you think that good, look at the 2003 S600s. They are hovering at about 40k-45kish in my area. My dad and I looked at one not too long ago, and almost pulled the trigger. Trade in the SL, and get a true rocketship!

Those E55s are definitely a good deal tho. Not too expensive, and loads of fun to be had!
