Website valuation

How would you attach a purchase price to a website?

Hard to say. Besides purchases from Fastlane, there are ad impressions (but you can turn those off).

I don't begrudge them a penny.

The ability for that website to drive traffic to its advertisers/sponsors. You could look at the ratio of website visits to sponsor visits and be able to judge the ability of a website to drive traffic to a sponsor. The higher number of website to sponsor visits would make a website more valuable.

Google Adwords (impressions and click-through) -- and other c-net type ads, PLUS the primary of selling parts... it probably isn't too bad. As long as server space/bandwidth (hosting) isn't killing them with costs (controllable) -- they should be doing pretty well. I have a figure in my head based on rankings... but I don't think folks need to blab that sort of thing.

Websites values are determined by the ease to remember the name, as well as the traffic that it gets. However, values are usually determined by the amount of traffic that a site recieves.
