The guy in the next room snores so damn loud he kept me up all night! I'm in a hotel room dammit and his snoring shakes the rafters. The just don't bild them like they used to these days.

Last time that I traveled on business the couple in the next room was busy getting busy.

At first I was mildly titillated...

...then I got a bit jealous that I was all alone.

...finally, I was just ticked off because I couldn't sleep.

I stay in hotels around 200-250 nights a year. Unless you're staying at a real craphole, call the front desk and ask to be moved. Worst problem I ever had was a barking dog in NC. Called the front desk, and they removed the dog from the room. Best advice I can give is to sign up for the hotels loyalty program. Even if you stay there a night or two a year, you're in their system and they will bend over backward for you.

Not exactly.
There are construction details that allow for significant noise abatement even using sheetrock. Trouble is, those construction details cost more than the more conventional designs.

Finally someone who stays in hotels more than me.

I fly about 120,000 miles / year, and stay in hotels about 1/3 of the year.

The loyalty program is great advice. I have gold or silver status at three hotel chains, and they always find a way to make me happy when I have a room with issues, i.e close to an elevator, close to the vending room / ice machine, noisy neighbors, etc.

MY familys super cheap.. The last 2 years we stayed in some cheap motel, but before that, we always slept in the car and showered at truck stops.. Helped that gas was cheap back then and we could idle all night for cheaper than a hotel room.. Now, I'd prefer the seat in the Benz over a hotel bed any night.. Its the one place I can sleep that I don't roll around all night and wake up in some weird painful position...

Dang...

Whenever we travel, we usually hit the Days Inn, Sheratons, or any other hotel with suites... If we have a problem, we ring the front desk, and problem solved.

Dial his room number on the phone and tell him to sleep on his side.
