As a result of imput from this board I bought a S430

When I found this board I was thisclose to buying a 2002 s55.I listened to you guys and bought a 2003 S430 instead.I picked it up today. It's a beautiful car, Pewter exterior,Black interior with 25,700 miles. It's certified so I have the next year under warranty. It was $36,300 and then they gave me a pretty good deal on my trade-in which was a 1995 E320.
Thanks to all the posters that replied to my questions.

What made you switch from a 55 to a 430?

Reason for Switch

I switched because of the problems with the airmatic suspension problems with the 2002 s55 that I learned about here. Extended warranties for these car were also prohibitive.

I could sense some apprehension in your other post re: the S55, so the S430 was a good move. Have fun!

They must have added the exhaust tips. I didn't think the 430's had visible dual exhaust.

Nice find. do yourself a favor, and get an extended warranty for it. based on the mileage and year, you should be able to get a pretty good aftermarket extended warranty for a good price.

I am a service advisor, and I can tell you first hand, that the first time you need to use it, it will pay for itself. the w220 s class is a great car, but they are not without their problems.

IF I were to buy one, I would get an extended warranty for sure, especially if I was keeping the car.

Most dealerships will have someone there who you can talk to about an extended warranty.

Extended Warranty

The S430 was certified so I got an added year of Mercedes warranty. They wanted to sell me a warranty past that date but they said I had to get it that day and that I could'nt get the Mercedes warranty after the purchase.I declined because I know there are other warranties out there and because I did'nt like the very high pressure way it was presented to me.I will get a warranty though when the present one runs out.

W220?

I'm wondering what W220 means relative to S430's? I'm new to all this and I've heard it referenced several times.
