I bought a Mosquito Magnet trap last year. Worked great, caught tons of them. Did it make a difference? Hard to tell.

This year, the @#%@#$ thing won't start. Tried different propane tanks, cleaned the lines with the CO2 cartridges they give you, reset the pressure...I spend more time trying to get this bloody contraption going than I did tuning the dual carbs on my old 1971 250 sedan!

From what I've read online, I'm not the only one.

I hate mosquitoes even more than I hate Rosie, and that's a whole lotta hatin'.

My brother and father each have Mosquito Magnets and knock on wood, so far so good. They do exactly as the name implies, though. They draw the f'n skeeters in. If anyone buys one be sure to put it AWAY from where you plan on spending your time.

They are (should be) the ME state bird! My family owns some cottages in Newport, ME and have our own fire district for insurance purposes. My uncle (who lives there full time) bought a '59 American LaFrance pumper and got it all stickered up with EAST MOSQUITOVILLE FIRE DEPT. Always gets smiles at the parades.

Ours was the same way. Great one year. Never stayed running the next.

Pull the head off it and send it back to them.

They have some mod they do to it. Was under warranty. Been working great again ever since.
And remember - proper placement of that thing is everything.

What has worked for me when I get mosquito bites is to apply some rubbing alcohol. It does not completely eliminate the itch, but it does greatly reduce it.

Alaskan mosquitos

They are so big in Alaska that they need NAV numbers and I think they can be tracked on radar. Each one can take a pint of your blood every twenty minutes.

DEET works well. I have dropped a chunk of dry ice in an an empty five gallon bucket and found thousands of them dead in an hour or so.

I take a shot of vodka every few minutes until I don't care about the itching

rubbing = isopropyl? I've got a gallon of it sitting around for biodiesel titrations, will give that a try next time..

Last year I only got bit once or twice. Odd year.

This year, I'm getting bit all the time. Funny thing is, not one of them itches. Not a single bump.
