Free state money ?? WT- ??

OK. Show of hands....

Who here is so stupid that if their state screwed up and accidentally sent you a check for $2.5 million...you’d go out and start investing/spending it?
Who here is so stupid that you wouldn’t be thinking that an audit would track it down at some point?

Somebody please tell me what these folks could have been thinking. And don’t tell me that they must have thought that the state’s mistake meant that $2.5 million dollars was theirs to spend. I wont buy (no pun intended) that. Folks can’t be that stupid. Please tell me they aren’t.....

And what the hell is this all about?: “Walker also allegedly bought two cars, called the state to report the check, then bought two more cars, prosecutors said.”

Like the state is going to just say: "OK... our boo-boo. Just give us back what you haven't spent already, and we'll be happy."

:confused::confused::confused:

People like this are the reason that Nigerian scam artists can still scam Americans. I wouldn't insult blonds by saying that this woman is probably blond, but the chances are good.

2.5 million....hmmmmmm, gotta get a plan :idea3:. Convert to cash, sail to South America and live long and prosper. Or something like that.

Stupid for sure, but with some thought and planning it would be tempting. But to stick around and just wait for them to come get you, now that's really really stupid.

From what I heard, the state used the wrong vendor number, meaning that she is some sort of vendor to the state.

Because she is a female, she is given preferential status for contracts with the state. She is considered a minority. Most of these people work out of home offices, and do nothing more that act as a middle person between the real vendor and the state, while getting a healthy 10% to 20% profit.

For example, the state prison needs to buy automotive parts for themselves. One of these "minority" vendors would be given the contract, the vendor has an account with a local parts store. When the prison needs parts the following happens: Someone at the prison calls the parts store and orders the part, the parts store delivers the part to the prison and charges the vendor. All the vendor does is bill the prison at a 20% markup, that's it, the vendor doesn't touch ar see the parts sold to the prison. The vendor gets 20% for pushing some paper around. To add insult to injury, the vendor doesn't pay the parts store until they get paid by the state. Most of the time, the state pays 60 to 90 days out. The vendor doesn't deal with any of the problems, such as bad cores or defects that aren't defects. They just sit back and collect our tax dollars for doing nothing, while the parts store has to eat returns that aren't defective and accept cores that won't be credited because they are misboxed or risk losing a account. The vendor has no risk, yet makes a net profit equal to that of the parts store when losses and delivery costs are factored in.

You can see that the mentality that it takes to be one of these vendors could make someone be so stupid as WVOtoGO mentions in his first post.

I don't think for a minute that this was a honest mistake by the state, the person who wrote the check probably was known to the lady in some way. I'm sure of it.

it said she was considered a vendor because she was a court witness and paid 84 dollars for her time.and once this is all said and done she will end up paying the state interest on that money.

My bad, then don't pay much attention to my rant people. I thought she was something else. She acts like a lotto winner in any case. Buying four cars........

I wonder what she looks like.....

That was in our paper this morning. I was thinking how lucky for them that they wrote a check to a stupid person.

What would be wrong with investing it, giving it back when they asked for it and keeping the gain?

Oh that's right. My bad. I forgot. Something like: "Most people are stupid, and the rest are idiots."

Or something to that effect.

I'm just glad to see nobody raised there hand.

Well at least you're making a good get-away plan with stolen money.

These folks were just short the bright yellow t-shirts that had" "I have state money that's not mine, and I'm spending it while wearing this t-shirt !!" written on it.

I find it rather intriguing that there seems to be a new thread about this exact topic nearly each and every day.........yet, collectively, we refuse to accept the obvious conclusion.

I think there must be something in the air or the water..........it's simply amazing how stupid the general population really is.
