Yes, that is true for the dealer plates, they can be used on any car being moved or driven for one place to another. Dealers slap them on new or used cars for customers to test drive them, or to use one for some errand. I have even seen them on gray market Mercedes cars that were in the country, before they were legalized through the EPA/DOT process, driven on the road in the USA. ( Some gray market importers are licensed dealers, also.)

I don't know it works but I have seen it done.

A few other fellas, seem to be trolling a little, and they do this whenever I post anything lately, no matter what the subject, or dilemma. The 560, is another one of my little "Import projects".
I purchased the car, back in the middle, or late August, from a guy in Alberta, Canada.
That car, like the 280 ce in the St Louis area, is a full Euro.
More though, than a lot of the ones around here, as it is set up completely European, and untouched, and our DOT/EPA, does not want to allow me to bring it into the states at all. I've been at this since August with that car, trying to get it into the country. I have recently found a host of 'Loop-Holes" in the system, which are allowing me to legally import the car, and leave it as is, full Euro spec. without touching anything on it provided I make each step of the import process, in the correct order, and at the right time..
The car only has 4500 kilometers on it, and is almost literally brand new, so I frown uppon even touching a bolt head, on it, if not absolutely required to. I paid BUKU bucks for the car also. If I told people what I paid for it, They'd be sick..Lets just say it's comparable to the price of what it was when new..It will be in my hands around the 20th of this month though, finally...

I can let it sit in my back driveway for a couple of weeks if you can get it to me, but I am about 120 miles from the car. No one says "boo" about a car w/o plates 'round here, either. Wish I were closer!

OK, lets put this in perspective. Even if there was a car, and dealer plates availibe (doubtful), haven't you guys read the posts where this guy claims to have an illegal 5K gun arsenal, mysterious Class III FFL and all sorts of other letharious connections to the underworld and the international arms dealing community? IF there actually is a car (oh yeah, Lamborghini:rolleyes:) in this instance in St. Louis, and you take all of this other BS as true, why on earth would you guys want to get involved with a self-admitted criminal on ANY sort of transaction of any type? The think probably has a boot-full of RPGs and C4 in it and he is just using you to make the pickup:scream:

Valid points, but there is indeed a car. It was a CL sale that I posted about here in the forums. I even spoke with the seller myself... looked like a decent car. Anyway, that much I can confirm.

I'm not berating you Truck, but you come up with some WILD stories. Be prepared to defend them with solid evidence. Otherwise people are going to bang on your door.

If you can't legitimately defend yourself, then don't even bring then up. What's the point?

Many here have been around for a while and are good friends, built on trust that started anonymously on the internet, right here! Eventually they meet in person at a GTG, or they might be in town for a biz meeting or on vacation. Cool if you ask me. Most of my friends are high school/college buddies, but I've made some right here. Kinda weird at first, but this old fart is getting used to it.

On the matter of dealer plates:
If you own dealer plates, I assume you are a legit dealer. If you obtained them any other way, it's illegal. You can't borrow them from a dealer friend. I've worked for car dealerships and have also carefully looked into getting a license - and they are not easy to obtain.

In this state, you need a physical commercial presence to sell cars. Not from your 2 or 15 car garage. The state checks that before issuing a dl, they don't hand them out like candy. I'm sure it's not much different in any other state.

I wouldn't want to do someone a favor, then get stuck with a fat fine from my local authorities.

John You are way out of line....you don't know enough about me, to try and make any kind of statements regarding me, or anything I claim. You are making assumptions, and accusations left and right about me, on a personal level.

I have many of my trucks contracted to a host of different Expedite, and LTL companies. My fleet runs where the business is. The business is very good in the Expedite industry. I have trucks contracted to Fed-Ex, Custom Critical, Panther II, Express One, Polly Express, Tri-State Expedited Services, and Nations Express. My trucks are wearing a lot of different company's names..I never said I own All-State Express, you assumed again..:rolleyes:

There are a lot of reasons for putting someone else's name on your truck. If you were not so Presumptuous, and knew half of what you were talking about (Or Pulled your head out of your @$$) You would not be so quick to start making false statements, accusations, or slinging mud.

I have had the dealer plates for a lot of years. When I was 18, I opened a small towing, and repo. company. Of which I bought, and sold vehicles out of also. I later changed the business I was in, but still maintain my lot, and building, and shop, for purposes of my own collection, and transports. I still have one wrecker, and one flatbed, and the dealer plates, are renewed yearly, for the occasional usage. I still maintain a dealer license, in the state of Connecticut. Once a person goes through all of the troubles (Huge amount of "Red Tape" in Connecticut) to obtain a dealer's license, it is hard to give it up. Why should I have given it up..? It's cheap enough to maintain, and I already have it, incase I ever decide to go back to it. I have insurance, under the dealership plates, and can also attend auctions, buy and sell, and get better deals on vehicles, and parts, and equiptment...Why should I give all that up..?

One of your trucks in damaged and your out of business while you have a fleet? Why did you offer a frauded plate it the first and then offer a dealer once it became an issue?

There are many more posts on other forums that contradict what you say here and just said. Do I need to pull that stuff out? It's all saved so don't bother deleting.
