Our national nightmare continues . . .
Putin is looking like James Bond these days compared to Bush's Howdy Doody. Bush, with his worn out smirky snicker says the Cold War is over. Is that why we're pursuing global hegemony like there's no tomorrow? Wasn't that a lot of the root of the Cold War? The mutual pursuit of hegemony? Russia is supposed to blandly trust that our courting every country that surrounds them and bribing them to station SDI type missiles on their soil does not render their offensive/defensive capability sterile?
Would we quietly put up with it if the shoe was reversed?! Much is made, and regularly, of how the founders crafted our constitution so wisely and carefully that every contingency was anticipated -- that no fine tuning is needed or will be tolerated. Clearly they left out the 'vote of no confidence' removal of a bumbling fool option available to the Brits, something we could sure use right now. Not sure they anticipated the lowest common denominator two party system that has descended upon us either. Somehow, someway, we need to implement the 'vote of no confidence' measure and get preference voting/instant run-off voting up and running. The ship of state lurches towards the rocks with Alfred E. Neuman at the helm.
