yep. with thousands of gallons of av gas on board a 29 would possibly have had much more lethal results.

Happy Motoring, Mark
The cover-up of asbestos-related disease is one of the most shameful sagas of corporate America. The effects of asbestos on the human body were well known since the 1930's and kept a well-guarded secret within highest company levels. Since it takes 10-50 years for asbestosis and mesothelioma to show up, it was relatively easy for these guys to continually delay, cover up, and deny. My dad recently died from this horrible disease. I guess he was relatively lucky, since he worked at Johns-Manville in the early 1960's and has been very healthy just until a year ago.

Some of the later spray-on insulations and fire retardants, such as Monokote, were used into the 1980's and were touted as being 'asbestos-free', even though they still contained up to 10% asbestos. This false claim lead workers to doff their usual protective gear, since they were assuming a safe product.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is another concealment of facts regarding the amount of asbestos in the WTC buildings.

Lot of angles.
I had a job many years ago as a Merchant Marine Fireman/Oiler/Watertender on some old steam ferries, which were originally built in the 30's & 40's. We had reciprocating steam engines (Skinner Uniflows), with a closed feed water cycle. So, we had to remove the cylinder oil from the feed water by filtering it through tanks which had screens coated with a mixture of asbestos and something called Sorbo-Cel. We would mix a fresh charge of this stuff up every day to keep the filters and the feed water clean. Cleaning the filter tank screens was nasty due to all the grease that coated up on them. We would hose this gunk off and let it fall into a trap and then use a steam syphon to eject it into the outside water.

This was perfectly legal at the time (early 70's), well before the US Dept. of Environmental Protection started regulating this and other forms of pollution.

Don't need a lawyer. JD. No harm to me. May have killed a few fish back then, I don't know.

Can a fish get lung disease?

I doubt it.
