The ulitmate sin?

Ferrari: It ain't a sin to buy the car

Fri Jun 22, 10:39 AM ET

MARANELLO, Italy (Reuters) - When it comes to luxury sports cars, Ferrari begs to differ with the Pope.

The Vatican issued a document listing its rules of the road, including one warning against using cars "as a means for outshining other people and arousing a feeling of envy".
Ferrari's general manager acknowledged the Vatican's concern that some drivers could use the cars as status symbols, but he said most people bought Ferraris for the love of driving.
"Unless having fun has become a sin, I don't believe it (to be wrong)," Amedeo Felisa told Reuters this week at an event celebrating Ferrari's 60th anniversary in its hometown southeast of Milan.
A unit of Italy's Fiat, Ferrari makes some of the world's most exclusive cars, each worth more than 100,000 euros (67,000 pounds).
Felisa was convinced that buying a Ferrari was not a sin.
"I hope not -- but you should commit at least one from time to time," he said.

Just remember that it is a man who has sworn off women for life proclaiming what is and is not a sin here.

That one pretty much cooks it for me with catholicism.

I have a good many friends who are fine folks and are catholic but I have not much use for the religeon.

Yeah, Tom, I think the Catholic church needs to clean up it's own house some before they do anymore pontificating about what the rest of us should do and not do.

Amen,,,, no pun intended.

Two nuns are riding a bike down a road and the first
nun sez, "I`ve never come this way before!" and the
second nun sez, "Oh, it must be the cobblestones"

Not sure why a Ferrari spokesperson needed to interject...after all the Pope did have a "blessing of the Ferraris" earlier...so they should be on good terms anyway! :pleased:

The pope was referring to any material possession meant to exude jealousy among others...cars were specific here because of the other points of driving courtesy, but boats, homes, etc. could apply.

I suppose the footage showed Ferraris during the dialog and were therefore, the target.

I am Catholic, and I don't believe there is anything wrong with working hard, and purchasing a trophy that represents your hard work and effort...you can't control other people's jealousies...most that are jealous anyway wouldn't put out the effort or take the risks to achieve the same objectives...

Kuan 06-24-2007 09:13 AM

That's because the Pope is German. He prefers MB's. More limo like, better safety features, airbags, bulletproof windows... :D
