Would you rather be...

25 and broke,

-or-

50 with $1M in the bank?

Medmech 07-06-2007 03:49 PM

It's a curve

25-30 - Broke
30 35- Doing well
35 40- Somewhat Broke but doing well
40- Doing very well and not broke invenstments that broke you paying off.
45- Kids go to school - broke
50 - kids getting out of school - building again
55 - keep building
60 have a heart attack two days after retirement.

I've been 25 and broke; I'm now 38 and getting some cash. I'll take the age 38 stage anyday.

PS - $1m in the bank ain't much these days. You'd be wise to shoot for that total before 50.

Tough question. Money comes and goes, no worry.

Life is a journey. Each age has its plusses and minuses.

To answer my own question, I'd take 25 and broke - but knowing what I know now. ;)

Given that I've been broke my whole life and am rapidly approaching 40, I'd go for the 50 with a mil.

Surf-n-Turf 07-06-2007 10:37 PM

Rather be 50 with $3 mill in the bank. Done the broke-ass crap long enough. There is a future that is not so bright without extra help.

LaRondo 07-06-2007 11:03 PM

I'm 18 months away from being 50. I take the 50/$1mil option.
Besides, I can't find my return ticket ....

TheDon 07-06-2007 11:39 PM

as long as I am happy I dont care how much money I have

I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world its saddest sound
Its saddest sound

I'd rather be a forest than a street
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

That reminds me of an Eskimo friend who used to tie things together with an... Inuit knot.

You don't need to know what it means if you say it correctly...
Pronunciation Key- [in-oo-it,] - [not]

LaRondo 07-07-2007 01:25 AM

Oh, Man .... I was diggin' way down the wrong direction...I quit :wacky:

G-Benz 07-07-2007 02:33 AM

Being broke sucks...being 50 sucks less (unless your health is failing fast).

I'd go for the money at 50...almost there anyway (age that is...)

I didn't have the God-given sense at 25 to manage that kind of cash anyway.

Kuan 07-07-2007 06:57 AM

I'm broke now, might as well be 25 again. :)

Ara T. 07-07-2007 06:59 AM

I'd rather have good health than money
