Would you rather be...

25 and broke,

-or-

50 with $1M in the bank?

It's a curve

25-30 - Broke
30 35- Doing well
35 40- Somewhat Broke but doing well
40- Doing very well and not broke invenstments that broke you paying off.
45- Kids go to school - broke
50 - kids getting out of school - building again
55 - keep building
60 have a heart attack two days after retirement.

I've been 25 and broke; I'm now 38 and getting some cash. I'll take the age 38 stage anyday.

PS - $1m in the bank ain't much these days. You'd be wise to shoot for that total before 50.

Life is a journey. Each age has its plusses and minuses.

To answer my own question, I'd take 25 and broke - but knowing what I know now.

Given that I've been broke my whole life and am rapidly approaching 40, I'd go for the 50 with a mil.

Rather be 50 with $3 mill in the bank. Done the broke-ass crap long enough. There is a future that is not so bright without extra help.

I'm 18 months away from being 50. I take the 50/$1mil option.
Besides, I can't find my return ticket ....

I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world its saddest sound
Its saddest sound

I'd rather be a forest than a street
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would
