Beckham plays kickball in US do you care?

I just read an article about Beckham playing kickball in Washington DC. Over 40K in attendance. Do you give a rat’s rear end about this sport? As you have might surmise, I could care less. I find soccer about as exciting as underwater checkers. Thank God it’s almost Football season. Give me 3rd and goal over an corner kick any day!

Soccer fan Michael Kirkpatrick shows his displeasure at David Beckham not showing up for Tuesday night's FC Dallas-Galaxy game.

Asked by reporters in Mexico City what he thinks of Becks, Pele said, "He is more of a pop star than a ... "

My avatar says it all.

But I feel for the jilted fans who recently paid hundreds for tickets here at the Pizza hut Park in Frisco to get a glimpse of the revered David Beckham playing the sport against FC Dallas.

He was a no-show due to an injury...disclaimers allowed the promoter to charge those astronomical ticket prices with no recourse!!

No one is worth his kind of money!!! Even highly-overpaid CEOs have to produce something!

I care a little being a former coach and having played in various leagues for a few seasons. I know my kids care.

I remember one time my wife and I went to see Luciano Pavarotti and he didn't show because he had the flu. Bummer, ticket promoters offered to refund our tickets.

Indeed, one of the Spice Girls, who were wildly popular back in the '30's. She made a run at reality TV recently on NBC. The critics descended upon her like locusts.

I don't really care what he does as long as his wife is visible.

Believe it or not, but adult kickball/drinking in major metropolitan areas is huge! My sister plays in a league in Chicago and she's gotten a job, a couple apartments and discounts on a lot of stuff through her kickball connections.

I'm ready for some football, too! I took my oldest son to Patriots practice on Monday and the Sox are starting to stumble. 'Tis almost the season

The US sport fan, in general, doesn't really care for sports that 1) didn't originate in this country; or 2) that US participants doesn't dominate. We tend to be rather "hometownish" in that regard. Perhaps a changing population demographic will effect a change over time.

So cockfighting and bullfighting might be in our future?

Sure wish Becks was still playing for Real Madrid: he really retired too soon
He once said he would return to Manu to end his career.
