Anybody do Flash?
My beautiful wife is a graphic artist who uses flash infrequently, and is having a problem with choppyness.
She posted this: Quote:

checked it our on firefox, looks nice...
smooth transitions and nice layout. Perhaps your connection speed with the site slows it down on your pc?? check out mine (www.xshub.com)

That's nicely done Hammer.
She says the client doesn't like the strobe like quality of the fades where the seem jerky rather than the smooth fade that some other flash animations have... or so I have been told, it's all greek to me... do you know if 'pre loading' of some sort might affect the smoothness of the effect? Guess they might be looking for something more like this: http://www.dwuser.com/flashslideshow/v3/samples.php

with a flash site ...a pre-loading stage is where all the scripts, images etc is actually loaded so when the page accesses all the data is "live" so to speak. what make the transitions smooth is the speed of the connectivity and the computers capability.
IOW, my flash site looks swell on a desktop but pull it up on my old laptop and it begins to get choppy...I do not think it's your wifes code, I believe it is the clients machine. Also is the client viewing of a staging server or has the site been uploaded to the clients hosting server, this also affects the indexing speed... I hope this makes sense

I also forgot to include this link:
http://www.hotscripts.com/Flash/index.html tell her to go snooping around over there, she'll find other transitions to use. Here's one I found: http://www.adriantnt.com/products/flash_photo_gallery/ If the client's machine is low on memory it will affect any graphic representation because images and graphics programs are like a memory dope fiend that steals from everywhere it can, it sloooooows everything... Hope this helps.. I have other issues, like localizing my site into 8 different languages...now that's fun....
