Try to avoid sucking the fumes from the 7,300 bags over 10 years.

There's no need to buy microwave popcorn, you can easily make your own with a brown paper bag, a quarter cup of popcorn that's been coated with some oil and seal the bag with a couple staples.

Putting metal in a microwave is perfectly safe as long as you understand how it works. This myth all started when people were putting food covered in tin foil in the microwave and their microwave died from no "load", AKA, water molecules to absorb the 2.4GHZ from the magnetron. Staples are too small to create antennas to absorb microwave energy and form an arc from one another. Now, If you put two 1 inch balls of aluminum foil in the microwave 1cm apart.... Watch the sparks fly! I don't recommend this though. It will put aluminum oxides all over your microwave which you don't want to get on your food. Here's a cool fact for you. The metal mesh over the viewing window in your microwave is specifically designed to block microwaves by the size of the holes.

As for the popcorn thing... Ouch! Just another thing I like that's bad for you. First barbecue now popcorn! What's this world coming to!

Yes, staples are just fine. I wouldn't suggest big paper clips or the like, just a couple shots from the desktop Swingline.

As for the popcorn dude, look two bags of popcorn a day for 10 years is just a tad excessive just from a health perspective anyway never mind sniffing the damn things at every sitting lol

By the way is it safe to sniff pop tarts just out of the toaster?

Although I like popcorn (microwave variety included) I do not like the smell it leaves in the house, and especially the microwave itself. Seems like the smell can last for days, if not weeks.

Do you equally love the fake buttery smell of diacetyl? This stuff has been in the news for years. People at popcorn factories have been dropping over dead, or almost doing so.

I would recommend the "scratch-n-sniff" approach to the pop tarts.
