Here is the AMG spanking an M5...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3tsPB0-hao

Damn these cars are fast. In the race with the 'vette it pulled a 12.4 1/4 mile!
Although I think the Corvette driver lifted 3/4 of the way down the track

The WAGON pulled an 11.8? I saw a Camaro on a trailer today with 13.61 in the window... As I said before these cars are FAST!

I sent it to a guy I know who thinks Vettes are the best cars in the world. Last time he went fishing he was trash talking Porsche, MB, and Ferrari, because a Z06 modified posts better numbers.

So now I email him all the crap I hear about Vettes and he gets pissed, its fun.

Hat, your buddy has never been to the strip near my house....

We have a fellow named Ben Treynor that lives here, and he like to whoop up on vettes and the like.

Great vid! Nothing like seeing a 4-door sedan ruin a Vette!

I love how he pulls seemingly outta nowhere and just keeps on goin'...

There's a Maryland dentist who drives an '03 S600. Over at MBworld, he posted 1/4 slips of 11.9 secs, stock except for rear slicks.

It now has the Renntech ECU upgrade and running ~.5 sec faster.

WOW! I cannot believe how fast these cars can be (coming from a OM617 anything better than 0 to 60 in two days is impressive)

I do agree with the idea that a lot of it is in the driver. Back in the ole days, I had a 1977 Impala with a 305. I used to blow away similar year 'vettes and Camaros all the time.

I would like to see the S600 go up against a Buick GS455 or GTO Judge.

Most of those muscle cars are "slow" compared to today's offerings. One of the fastest factory cars was the '7x Chevelle 454 LS6. I've seen time slips on factory-stock cars and they managed the 1/4 mile in mid-high 13's. A good driver could do 0-60 in 5.4 secs.

The latest Mercedes V12's and V8/12 AMG's can run all run 0-60 in under 5 secs and ~12 sec 1/4 miles.

Yeah, but how many of them are still factory...

I was impressed with my 1996 Impala SS which did 7 sec 0 to 60 and I think around 14 for the 1/4 stock. It is amazing what is going on these days. All I can say is that the USA better start getting more muscular.

Here is our guy Jeremy flogging a 300cSRT

IIRC, the fastest "attainable" American car is the Corvette Z06. Then there's the Dodge Viper and Ford GT40. None of these can seat 4 people, haul stuff or drive in the winter. I suppose that 300C SRT-8 is the fastest American sedan, old Jeremy really hates that thing, lol.

My buddy has an SRT-8 Jeep Cherokee. That'll give my S600 a run for it's money, probably a driver's race from 0-60. His car hooks up well with that AWD.
