I loved mash but recently sat through a rerun of it and could hardly stand the overacting. It was so extremely popular at the time it came out because of the Vietnam war.

ITaT was Robert Wagner's signature role, I think. I know his run in "Hart to Hart" was popular, and he did fine work as the murderer in the movie "A Kiss Before Dying," but to me his best work was bringing Alexander Mundy to life.

Of course he had quite a bit of help from clever, tricky scripts and top-notch guest stars like Ricardo Montalban.
