Whats up with all these tip cups?

Is it just me or do other people notice this? They are everywhere! At ice cream shops, pizza places, everywhere!

What are they expecting to get a tip for doing their jobs?

Yes, I sually tell them: "Don't breathe under water", or "Don't smoke in bed".

That's generally my idea of a "Tip" unless I'm in a restaurant or someone deserves an actual "Tip", for something...

Don't get me wrong, I always tip very well in restaurant's. Those guys really don't get paid hourly, mostly in tips. So I keep that in mind when I tip.

But if you get paid hourly, come on.

cracks me up...

the Hungry Howie's I always go to has a TIP jar at the counter. I always just look at it when I go to pick up my pizza. I can't believe they would actually expect a tip just for carrying the pizza from the oven to the counter and then ring up my order.

I think the restaurants throw some money in the jar....to fake people into tipping..

Yes it sucks, but it's usually their choice to work in a low paying job. It's usually their fault for not taking the initiative to learn a valuable skill and do something with their time.

I know there are people in high school and collage trying to survive. Even then all you need to do is market yourself properly and put some effort into looking for a good job.

The lowest I've ever made until I turned 18 was $8.75/hr. I wouldn't ever settle for anything less than $14/hr these days. It's kind of sad to see a 25 year old person only making $10/hr as an assistant manager at a fast food restaurant.

But then again, I do like having somebody to serve me the food I order.
