Anyone know anything about Aston Martins?
My dad and I have been looking at cars lately, as want to add either another car of replace one of them.
Upon careful review, we have found several cars that we are interested in. One of the cars happens to be a 1997 Aston Martin DB7. Its looooks sweet. Its black on black, and drives really nice. Has got a good amount of power, and it has about 60,000 miles on it. Hes the original owner, and has records from the beginning... Hes even got a few reciepts for gasoline! The seller wants to sell for about $36k, as his new Aston was just delivered to the dealer.... So ladies and germs, anyone know anything about these cars? They reliable? Trobuled motors? Let me know, as we may possible have a new car in the family. Thx, Justin.

By '95 the problems were generally ironed out. These cars require more than ordinary maintenance, possibly why there are so many low-mileage examples out there,NOT that there is anything inherently wrong with them but the electronic complications alluded to the newer Mercs, like the 210's apply equally to astons and can be real bugbears. They do not like lugging at low speed with correspondingly low engine revs, wears the bearings, camlobes and fouls the rings. For the price you indicate I'm assuming it's the 6 and not the tricky V12 |

They sure look nice, a neighbor has a blue DB7 that he said is dead nutz reliable and the best touring car he has owned. Since tuition is fairly cheap I'm interested as well.

Its a supercharged 6. Looks and sounds SWEEET!
I am assuming that the 6 is more reliable than the 12..... Uhoh, my dad found a British Racing Green Aston.... Hes going to call the seller and get more info. But the 97s are ok? Anything newer good? And the one we were looking at wasnt a coupe... It was a Cabriolet.. (well kinda, it had a small back seat.)

I6....iirc it is basically a blown and souped up version of the venerable Jag six.
For 36 k I would consider a crossfire with the blown amg engine. Both are kindof step children now but I think the crossfire might have a lifetime warrenty. Tom W

Isn't the DB7 basically the same car as the Jag XK? Ford owned both at the time.
The Chrysler lifetime warranty doesn't apply to SRT vehicles, need to read the fine print. My younger brother has the Crossfire SRT. It's fast, it feels like a Benz, and the ride is punishing. Definately a stepchild, they can't give the things away. - JimY |
