I worked at a place awhile back that had an expensive desktop video-teleconference system that only worked across their ATM network. Big waste of money, and just bought (with tax payer dollars) as a toy for the network manager's team to play with.
The product is the Marconi ViPr Virtual Presence system. We laughingly called them the "One-Eyed Vipers". The camera on top is the "Eye".  Ken300D
