Although facts are sketchy, it is clear that if the mob had anything to do with it, offing Oswald would be their style. That would be the CIA's style too.
Speaking of the CIA, they were in bed with the mob too, what with trying to off Castro and all. Ruby had extensive mob connections and owed them a lot of $$$$, and IIRC had cancer at the time that he shot Oswald. Tom W
