ARggh! Snow plowing!

Awoke this morning to about five inches of wet snow.

Yesterday, I went and started the scout after a period of about nine months of dormancy sitting outside without ever having been started even once. Of course it started up right away even though the battery is at least four years old!

The clutch is stuck though, I discovered this morning and I will have to get that unstuck in a few minutes.

HI ho, hi ho, its off to plow I go.

Ahhhh, the glories of owning commercial rental properties!

Well, that wasn't so bad. The main parking lot and sidewalks had almost none due to favorable wind conditions, I suppose.

And the clutch healed itself.

I'm sure glad I don't live in the snow belt any more! I've been toying with the idea of putting a blade on the F250 but a decent 9' blade is pretty big bucks and considering it only snows here every couple years, it's probably not worth it. When it does snow though, there's a big potential to make money because nobody has the equipment to handle it!

The clutch on the 'mog gets stuck like that sometimes. I have to run it into a tree at a crawl in 4WD to break it loose because the brakes aren't strong enough to hold it.

Glad to hear that the old Scout fired right up and you got your clutch unstuck. She's far ahead of my old girl!

We haven't had any snow yet, but I'm going to pull it out and get it mounted to my Jeep this weekend. At the end of last winter we had a couple 2" snowfall with freezing rain for 6-8 hrs. storms and I bent the lower mounting bracket on the plow trying to move that crap (flexed the Jeep enough to crack the windshield) so I need to get that straightened out. I could have done it over the summer when it was nice and warm and I wouldn't have to be in a hurry but where is the fun and adventure in that?

My trusty Toro snowblower fired right up this season! Love the old ones, big heavy beasts. Not like the newer ones which are so light they bounce all over the place...

Which is a good thing since we've have tons of snow this week. More coming...it'll be a nice Christmas anyway!

Well, it beats shoveling, that's for sure.

My snow blower quit this morning, so I got to shovel instead. It took 2 hours instead of my normal 15 minutes.

Why would anyone put a plastic transmission on a snowblower?

Is this thread some type of drug reference, or what?

It snows heavily here just infrequently enough that having a snow plow seems like a waste of good money and storage space. Once every five or six years we get creamed pretty good. The rest of the time, not so much.

I'm the second owner of a 25yo 2-stage Ariens that keeps plugging along. It's one of those that you need to lean down by the engine to engage the trans. & augers. And if the transmission is engaged the augers are turning, whether you squeeze the clutch to move or not. None of that namby pamby moving the snowblower safely for me!

Just kidding--I hear it started snowing a little up there this morning. I bet I won't get laughed at for wearing my Mustang suit on the water fishing this weekend!
