I know a lot of people with new or nearly so A4's, they are as good as anything else. The A4 and A8 are very different cars. The A4 is their entry level bread and butter model, and the A8 is the big one that competes with the S class and 7 series.

Just keep an eye on the tires. I know someone with an 06 and he got the sport package with the 19 in wheels. They are summer tires and the car just won't go in the snow, AWD be damned. So you still need a set of winter tires.

What about a BMW? The 330XI's are pretty nice. Mercedes newer 4Matic system is also excellent.

I thought about the 3series XI but I think it may be too small. Newer MB 4matic was an option but they are some $$$.

The only way I'd consider that is if it was an E430.
