dwarf hamsters

I bought my sister two dwarf hamsters for christmas. She really wanted the things. So.. I gave her the hamsters and the stuff early since its kinda hard to hide a living thing..

then the issues began.. Hamsters are male.. Tom is a good quiet, non biting hamster.. and then scabbers was a little rowdy and he would bite. a lot

after a week we returned scabbers.. and picked up edward.. Edward is terrorizing Tom.. I go and check on them today and Tom is not putting weight on his front left paw and he is making noises.

When we brought Ed home I seperated the two hams and let them smell each other through a grate and stuff... After two days they seemed fine and only had a little tussel because Ed was eating and Tom wanted some as well.. I think they got into it last night and Tom was hurt. I like Tom.. He's been good since day one and now he's hurt.

what to do?

I would separate them. I had hamsters as a kid and went to a friends house overnight. I put some extra food in the cage in case I didn't make it back in time to feed them. When I got home, one of the two had hoarded the food and killed the other one They had a scuffle before this happened but my parents said they'd be fine.

If Tom is injured already, I think the other will keep at him.

Yeah, poor Tom will have to be alone I think. If I was doing it over again (getting a small animal pet) I'd get a Chinchilla. Great pets, just don't let 'im up under the recliner...

Chinchilla.. too expensive.. I think I spent maybe 50$ total on all the stuff for a hamster set up.. She had her heart set on the dwarf ones.. I was like.. ok cool.. I'll just get to females since they wont kill each other.. but my mom was like "but they will bleed and such".... I replied " Mom.. their thing is like the size of a drop of water.. not a lot of blood will come out.. its not like you have to go buy them hamster pads or some crap....."

I checked on them a minute ago and they are fine.. but.. Sunday she has to clean the hamster house out and stuff.. maybe that will help.. that way they can start fresh or something

Rodents really should be kept separate unless they are from the same litter or a mating pair. They are (obviously) territorial and will fight until one is dead or the other is constantly cowering in submission.

THEDON- Tom will have to live by himself and take him to the vet if you can a sick hamster is not good. That was areally nice thing you did for your sister, unfortunately these things sometimes backfire.

It might be funny if there was any truth to it. Urban myth investigators have concluded it is pure fiction, a handy slander for people who thrive on slinging crap on people they know nothing next to nothing about but are vaguely jealous of.

I mean Gere can be an ass, but repeating false slander is ohhhhhh, shall we say, not noble.
