300 sd wagon
Hi Folks,
I'm just now getting interested in a Mercedes turbo diesel wagon. Did they make them in the older pre 91 S class? I've been told they did and told other wise. I'm new to the whole benz culture so please be paitent with what will probably be uninformed questions. Thanks in advance :sperm: ChuckWagon

No sd was ever a wagon from the factory. Perhaps a very few were converted by individuals or small coach builders in Europe.

Thanks for the quick responce! I'm not what is known as a littl efellow and need some thing with some size at a reasonable price. A wagon is what I'm really looking for. I need something to haul My flea market finds. CW

there is a very nice wagon made on the 123 chassis, from about 1980 to about 1985, and a wagon on every e class chassis after that.
The 123 wagons have a good amount of room in them but not quite as much as a 145 volvo wagon (or 245). Tom W

No MB never made a W126 wagon. A small handfull were made by an aftermarket coach building company, the name of which escapes me.
Finding one is possible, but it would be a very expensive world wide search. Chances are you will have to import it from Europe, and pay a huge price to pry it out of some collection. There were probably never any diesel ones, since the diesel S class was made for the North American market only. I would guess that most were based on the 560SEL to take advantage of the SLS rear suspension, larger engine, and more luxury features.

Hey Guy's,
Thanks for the heads up on the wagon. I was a Ford man for over 20 years untill I bought a new f150 off the lot. Turns out the truck was a LEMON! After over a year sueing the F**** motor company, and them threatening to have me arrested for stealing my own truck! They settled! I'm in the antiques and collectables buiz. (JUNK) and need something to haul my finds with. I'm driving a 97 Dodge I picked up in March of 06 and have only had to put a water pump on it! (Hoses, belt etc at the time too) Hence the question about the big Wagon, I'm not exactly "Dainty and Delicate" ( Thats why they call me slim) That's why I was asking about something bigger than the 300 class wagon. Here in Memphis, home of the lousey drivers, We train em here and ship em out nation wide. No need to thank us we're glad thye've moved on!

Once in a while you see a 300GD for sale. Lots of room in the 4-door version.
A 280GE gasser with rear jump seats to seat 9 - This 230G gasser might do okay mpg-wise - Or get a Diesel Suburban. Sixto 87 300D
