I have a 300CE as Jim says and I will say of my collection, it's one of the best! Very fun to drive and handles very well. I'll chime in with the others and say get a CE. I'm keeping mine for now, but I will have a 380SL and 560SEC up for sale soon. As Jim said, I have to thin the herd. Good luck and let us know what you decide on. KM

Don't have enough history on the ragtops to know what problems are common, but the cable that allows the top to lift up may either break or require replacement. The dealer wants $1000 for that task.

I had the rear headrest rams die on me once...that prevented the top to fold down. The burnt-out motor unfortunately was integrated to the hydraulic pump, a $1200 part. Dealership took a half a day to do the repair. Came to about $1900 when it was all said and done!

I bought a CE for me a couple of years ago.. my wife drove it a couple of times and hijacked it.

I had to buy a beater 260e for me, since I didn't want to drive our Expedition on a daily basis.

But when momma's happy, everyone is happy.

Actually I am glad she is in the CE ... the coupe fits her personality

Few problems... a/c compressor and I just did valve stem seals... although i don't think this stopped my oil consumption issue. I figure some day i will just get the head re-done.

Someone said it earlier...great build quality, limited numbers, and marginally collectible or will be in another 10 years.

Thanks for the follow-up info, I appreciate it.
