I think this deserves to be on the Darwin award website! These guys would fit right in.

We are all animals. At some point, something snaps. Take a human being. Provoke it enough and all the reason in the world won't work. So, if you are going to keep provoking something, be it animal or it's sub-species the human being, and you die, WGAS? Not I.

Nice post Bot.
I agree, 100%.

I just felt odd reading: “WILD ANIMAL” and “CONTAINED AND NOT ABLE TO ESCAPE” in the same sentence.

I think of wild as also being free.
There’s nothing “wild” about contained and not able to escape.

Yes but maybe we should observe a moment of silence for the poor tiger. Now the zoo will also be short a tiger. Sad.

There's just something wrong about this statement.
The problem with this statement is the assumption that the tiger would only jump out if provoked. If that were true you would only need a four foot fence and then folks would know not to provoke him.

The big cat cages obviously need a top to them.

The courts will award a lot of money to the family of the kid who became the tiger's lunch, and rightfully so.

Did the tiger jump out when he was not provoked?

Only if people like you are on the jury. They will have to kill me to make me vote that way. Personally, I'm glad he was lunch. He deserved it for provoking the tiger.

Yep the real loser in this was the tiger, such a shame they are beautiful animals. They should have just stunned the tiger, he could have munched on those three morons until they got a stun gun out there.

Bet me. The people on the jury will be like me not you.

You guys think a kid deserves to die for teasing an animal at the zoo?

Really?

I'd live to a few years ago in San Francisco, for 25 years. In that time there were only two pretty large attractions I'd neglected to visit.

One of them was the Cable Car museum.

The other was the zoo.
I hope this dean of high stakes ambulance chasers, Geragos, gets stiffed on this one.

I have yet to see the zoo myself. After the mauling a year ago, I was thinking I'd better go while it's still around, no telling what might happen. I'm going to stop by one day soon.

A growing, though likely small contingent favors getting rid of urban zoos altogether, instead going with larger rural retreats. Animals would have a better life and visitors would always be with a group of some size, on semi-regular tours.

Some letter writers to the SF Chron said they have frequently seen harrassment of zoo animals by teenagers. Something lousy in the symbolic lesson there.

That tiger was endangered, and its their falt it had to be killed. I say make them pay for the tiger, and the time lost to the zoo.
I was thinking to myself that the tiger was about to take out the trash when she was stopped.

Course the story would have taken a much different direction had the brothers been killed also.

If it's proved within reason that they taunted and harrassed the tiger excessively, I say give them medical bills and a two year scolarship to a Cal. Community College of their choice. Not a penny more.

Some guy got out some word about a memorial for the tiger on the beach across from the zoo and 4 people plus 2 reporters from the Chron came, lit candles, etc. Made the paper anywho.

The zoo has a memorial notice up for both the young man and the tiger.

Not all kids will listen. Especially when they are in a big class (were talking 30+ students) and a few people watching them. Kids are kids many of them are going to misbehave and are going to throw popcorn at tigger.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. That is why things are so screwed up today. You screw up and somebody else is to blame. It is never your fault. It is somebody else's fault.

Yes. A kid old enough should know better than to screw with a dangerous animal. He deserves what he got.

Really.

If they are too stupid to know better, why give them an education? They are incapable of learning, IMO.
