possibly parting ways with my E420

Might be parting ways with my 1994 E420. Ill be buying a 1994 mitsubishi 3000gt SL with got a stick (yay no more auto transmissions) tranny. Ill be very sad/ have lots of buyers remorce but still $4k is pretty cheap for it. buying it off of a friend who is going to buy a honda S2000 off of his sponsor (he races legaly). So yeah how many of you guys think this is a stupid idea? value to value? 160,000 vs 97,000miles.

and you thought MB parts prices were high? Wait until you start buying for a Mitsu. My parts were cheap compared to my son's Eclipse. Then you get into their "engineering". My kid had a '95 then a '97 Eclipse. I think he finally learned his lesson. One of the happiest days of his life was when the buyer drove off with the '97

I don't really like those cars, I think they are big complicated clunky things.

Mileage doesn't really mean much. But you said he is a racer? So was this a track car? I wouldn't touch a track car, unless it was cheap, cheap, cheap.

I don know what kind of shape your E420 is in, but unless it is costing you a lot of money or sanity to keep it, you'll probably regret getting rid of it. As much as I like my E430, I still regret trading in the 95 E420 I had three years ago.

Mhmm

Real stupid idea.

My friend has one: V6, 200 HP. SL is the non turbo one. If it was a VR4...maybe. But your car is as fast or faster, more luxurious, and definitely doesn't have the "Fast and Furious Factor" working against it. I also hate Mistus, so I suppose I am biased. My friend who has the 3000GT SL regrets not getting a W124 E320 for the same price.

No this wasnt his track car.....to my knowledge.lol Ive been lookin and i really dont know what im going to do. ive been wanting something newer and this looks like it but idk if i could get my E420 to look like badbenz94 then i might not but im probably going to get into track driving and an MB E420 would really work well. plus the E420 needs tons of repairs, new heads and Ac. total cost for repairs $5k. and also the heads are most likely super warped.lol so yeah the only thing wrong with the 3000gt is it needs new suspension ball joints.

How the heck did you warp the heads on an M119? What did you overheat it and run it till it stops?

first off i thought it was a W124. and 2. the heads had to be replaced a long time ago and i usumed that they would be warped, then i guess there not idk. it still needs new heads, and the whole freakin AC unit.

How do you know it needs new heads? What are the symptoms?

M119 is the engine.

And the results of the compression test (or whatever) where......?
And the mechanic told you that the test results meant.......?

If you don't remember, take notes next time - it will keep up from asking so many questions. (especially when the engine in question rarely warps heads)

this was when my dad owned the car. So thats the reason i dont know the details. Uhm what my dad told me was that the heads need to be replaced and that they MAY BE WARPED. But they dont know and it would cost him lots of $$$ for them to even see if there warped or not considering its smack dab in the middle of the engine.

I think warped heads on an M119 are as rare as blown timing chains on an M103.
