California Highway Patrol, San Diego muahahahahahahaha!!!
Two California Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on I-15 near MCAS Miramar. One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching near the crest of a hill. The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour. The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and turned off. Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact locked onto a USMC F/A-18 Hornet which was engaged in a low flying exercise near the location. Back at the CHP Headquarters the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the USMC Base Commander. Back came a reply in true USMC style:
Thank you for the message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air to ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment. Fortunately the Marine Pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar was destroyed. Thank you for your concerns. HAHAHAHA CHP bastards. If I was the USMC pilot I might have been accidentally a little "Slow" to override the system!!

Sorta on the same idea about RADAR
When we bought our last boat, we were bringing it from the Calumet up to Port Washington. We were betwen Racine and Milwaukee, about 3 miles out. The wind was from the northwest, we were in steady 4 footers, taking them on the port bow, with an occasional 6-7 footer. Nobody was on the lake but us fools. The boat had a 72 mile Furuno on it. I wasn't paying too much attention to it because nobody was on the lake. But then I noticed a return. "Hmm, another idiot" I though to myself. I'm sorta watching it, but it's quite away out. Then I take notice - this guy is moving. So now I'm looking for one badass offshore boat coming from the east. I'm watching the radar (it does not display speed of a return) and thinking, jeesh, he's moving. So I adjust range and do a quick calculation - this guys doing around 150 mph in this slop. I am really interested now. I'm teeling my and kid to keep looking for a big roostertail. Finally I see it - a Midwest Express plane coming in for a landing at MKE.

It's great to see the respect and gratitude shown to LEO by some people.
The CHP will have it's day with the scofflaws who deem it a right to drive 150 mph in a aging MB while endangering others. |

Hokey story, Snopes does a good job of busting it.
I had a buddy in the 80's who was an A6 pilot. He and his wingman were flying in California and were SLIGHTLY off their course by less than a degree. Knowing geometry tells you that at 500 knots, that translates into beingi n the wrong place by many miles in short time, and they flew over the Western White House (Reagan years). The first they knew anything was off was when the SAM's locked onto them. He said they had to clean out their flight suits. He said when they landed they had some VIP types waiting for them and the ass chewing they got made the Top Gun tower buzzing crap look like nothing.
