Wi Fi / SP2 issues
I have a SMC 2335W lap top card (802.11 A) and a SMC 2755W 802.11A access point.
The Lap top is HP Ze 4800. If I just run SP1 on it the Wi-Fi works fine. I just reformatted and loaded on XP Pro with SP2 and the Lap Top will not find the access point. If I turn off WEP encryption, it will locate the Network. I have looked around on line and cannot find a solution. Any ideas? SMC is useless. They want to charge for help but the people on the phone sound like they are reading off a screen. Thanks

Did you check on SMC's website to see if there is a firmware update for the card and router?

I had the firm ware for the card but not the access point. Just did that and I still cannot get it to work to save my life. The signal will not even show up in the 'avail connections' until I shut off encryption. I don't get it and I'm getting ticked off.

I've had problems with the Windows firewall not allowing the computer to link to my network. I just turned it off since I have Norton Internet Security and it's good to go.

OK, I'm back. Still having problems. I reformatted (again) and I just have SP1 on XP. If I turn the encryption off it works fine so I know the card/access point work. If I turn on the WEP I loose the connection.
I am at my wits end. I am thinking about buying a G router just to test the conection with the built in G router on the lap top but I would really like to keep the 802.11A that I have now. Any ideas?
